Don't hate on Calzaghe. He beat Hopkins, who's still whooping everyone's ass, fair and square. If Calzaghe was around, Hopkins would have retired already. We heard the same excuses about Rigo. He hasn't fought anybody. He's only fought amateurs. He's only fought Cubans. Rigo doesn't belong in the ring with me.
Basically what Floyd is saying: I can beat DLH and Cotto with one hand tied behind my back. But I need two hands to beat Canelo. That's not to say Floyd is necessarily afraid; he just has respect for Canelo's talent. Don't get me wrong, I want the fight at 154 (rehydration clause if possible) but I can understand if ANY fighter elects to stay in a class that he's most comfortable with. Pac's max limit is 150. I realize he's most comfortable fighting at 147 or below rather than challenge LMWs who are willing to shave off an extra 4 lbs. I'm fine with that. But yeah, whatever. If it's a duck to you then that's what it is. I couldn't care less about what Floyd does or doesn't do. He's already solidified his legacy and is on his way out. As for Canelo, he still needs to prove a lot of things before I can call him an elite. Plenty of challenges for him. We can start with the winner of Lara-Angulo. Maybe Golovkin in the future, which, ironically I have a feeling Canelo would make GG come down to 154.
You guys are just mentally Lazy. Article right now on "the scene" where CANELO'S PEOPLE are saying that Canelo is NOT READY for Mayweather and would need at least two more fights. Yet Floyd is the one ducking? SMH!!!!
Been saying all along, it would be stupid for SHO to pit Canelo, their future star against their current star so early in Floyd's contract period. Good publicity for Canelo, Mayweather and SHO. Floyd is teaching SHO and Canelo the art of free publicity. Fight will not happen earlier than May 2015! Bet on it.
