Boxing is a repetition sport. "No athlete should be doing the same routine for years and years" UKRkinetic to Floyd Mayweather
LOL. Greatest fighters of all time are thinkers(bar Foreman) Look at Wladimir Klitschko to make what you just said really really dumb.
What about Hopkins? A young Roy Jones? Larry Holmes? I never said don't include weight lifting merely stating you can get strength and endurance from high rep. Even Eugene Sandow can attest to that. Anyways I'll tweet Hopkins and Mayweather about changing their routines. I'm over this thread.
It amazes me how people actually think lifting weights is a bad thing for boxing..it builds strength and can even increase speed when done right.Weight lifting is a good thing especially for the legs and back
well thats not really true, you are still training a muscle, breaking it down and growing it,you would have lean instead of bulky muscle which would be more beneficial for boxing as large muscles need more oxygen and would hamper stamina
Hopkins is every day back to basic boxing. Skip,Bag etc. 48YO Champion. He lift weights when he was what?? 40years old? Larry Holmes was the same and he beat giants?? Young Roy never touched weights I'm 99%. Speed and smarts. James Toney lift weights to move up in class. Not the same fighter. Hearns lifted weights at the end of his career too...Was he a better fighter then too??? lol
