The striking in UFC and the striking in Boxing are too vastly different to make any valid comparison. Silva is one of the best(if not the best) strikers in UFC, but put in the confines of a boxing match he's not very good. Likewise, boxers generally just can't transition and learn kick/takedown defense well enough to compete at the top level in UFC.

I know but he only had two boxing matches(with one defeat and a long gap between the matches). That's not enough time to learn any real boxing technique and as far as I know Silva didn't have any amateur experience.

That's nice and all that, but it's not enough in Silva's case. There's just a mammoth difference between a guy who specializes in only punching technique versus a fighter who uses grappling, kicks, punches, etc. In MMA, Silva can drop a guy hard with basically a light arm punch, as he did to Forrest Griffin, because his overall striking timing, technique, and athleticism at the MMA level is just far above almost everyone else around his weight class(GSP might be the exception in some regards). It's a way different story when you're wearing larger gloves and have to adjust to fighters that have specialized in only punching for years. And when I see Silva box, I see in his boxing technique a lot of amateur level mistakes, which is unsurprising given that solely as a boxer that's basically what Silva is for all his UFC experience. Maybe if he dedicated himself to the sport for a year or two it might turn out that he's a fast learner, but it's unlikely. It's not a slight on Silva, most great boxers would get destroyed if they tried to transition to UFC in my view on the flipside.

Dude's just getting some work in. I don't think he plans on challenging Andre Ward anytime soon.

it didnt look like silva was even trying, he could have taken it to another gear if he wanted. yet his boxing skills are not up to par with the elites of course. but they were to fight in the streets AS kills

Silva's chin would get shattered in boxing

Good choice to go into MMA. He did well there and schooled numerous 'world class' fighters

Silva was getting cracked. He's defense sucks when its in the boxing range. Guys in mma are afraid to get in but once you are in he can get hit. If not, ask Sonnen who has decent mma striking.
