Was this when he was moving up to HW? Roy was the same after he went to HW aye? Speed, stamina etc was all there?? wrong
But how does bench heaps and punching power correlate? Foreman never touched a heavy weight in his life. Just a bunch of high rep/low weight. Benching 400 rather then benching 260 will not increase you're power to the likes of Tyson or Lewis
I agree strong legs/mid section is vital to punching power but skipping rope, sprinting hills etc is old school. Why does lifting heavy weights with you're upper body so vital when you jsut said Legs and Midscetion helps the punching power
Ali fired off in spurts so do just about every other combination puncher. Magna of the Classic forum, who apparently has sparred Foreman,Lewis,Klitschko,Tua, He said himself heavy lifts affected his stamina tremendously. Lifting heavyweight was the reason why a old Foreman and Holmes could keep up.
I love hearing about weight lifting from people who know nothing about bodybuilding. There is no such thing as lean or bulky muscle, you can't put on different types of muscle, that's nonsense. A muscle either grows, stays the same or gets smaller its still the same muscle.
Eh,most of them? They're professional athletes, and all can benefit by being more powerful and stronger. But fighters Ive seen/heard lift. Both Klitschkos Floyd Bradley Tua Cintron Broner Haye Abraham Mosely Brooke RJJ Holyfield Hatton Darcinyan Nunn Thats just off the top of my head, like I said,Im sure most have a strength routine
This topic has been discussed numerous times. Lifting does not have a black and white effect. Training like a bodybuilder ie your typical 10x4 with a moderate weight will cause too much muscle hypertrophy and is not recommended for fights. Whereas training your Max strength levels ie 1-3 rep range of compound lifts and moving into speed strength training and plyometrics can be very effective. This is the kind if programming that Marquez would have used for Pacquiao
