Well it's not as simple as that and Jones fundamentals are better than given credit for. His punching technique for example is better than Ali's. Roy definitely had a jab but he had short arms. He did have low hands and not the chin to use that when he was shot.

Let's start by saying Jones longevity is arguably better than Ali's. Jones didn't have a proper loss until he was 35. He was rarely losing rounds, let alone fights up until that time and ofcourse he was slower in his 30s than in his 20s. Ali lost his first in his late 20s then losing to Norton arguably 3 times. In his mid 30s he had controversial decisions against Norton, Young and Shavers before losing to Spinks. So I don't think Ali is performing better past prime due to better fundamentals.

Ali was getting hit easily as much as past prime Jones but he had the chin to keep him in the fights.

Jones fade from grace looks fast but not many fighters can compete at the world level in the their mid 30s onwards. Hopkins is the exception.

I don't buy into this hype of Roy always having a weak chin. It's not fair to judge a fighters chin once he isn't in his prime anymore.

The fact Johnson an average puncher damn near put Jones in a coma with a single punch should tell you everything you need to know about Jones chin.

Johnson isn't an average puncher. He's a very sneaky and hard puncher. He KO'd Allan Green in his prime with the same punch he used on Roy Jones Jr. He hurt Chad Dawson and almost knocked him out too with that same punch.

Glenn Johnson wasn't an average fighter. He might even make it to the HOF despite his deceptive record. I think Roy Jones Jr looked at his record and underestimated him and paid the price.

If he had a Chin he would have been in those fights and could have won instead of getting brutally KOed. His Chin failed him because he has a Glass Jaw.

Amazing how it took 50 fights and 15 years for someone to find this glass jaw.

Nobody doubted Jones incredible reflexes and speed, but once those went glass shattered.

Roy Jones has arguably one of the worst chins any elite fighter has ever had, and no matter how many times you mention Ali's name it won't change the fact that Jones has no plan B and no chin, he makes Amir Khan look like Jake LaMotta in comparison.
