If there's one thing he's remained consistent it, is duping people into thinking he's doing everyone a favour by making concessions. This 147 request is just a cheeky attempt to see how far he can get with it. Ideally he'd like to fight him there to hold advantages, but eventually he'll give up on it because he knows it's supposed to made at 154. And when it does get made there, he'll be all "I wanted to give the fans the fight they want to see, so I gave in to Canelo's extra demands because I'm such a great guy bla bla bla."

I just dont' understand how people can say this with a straight face. Floyd asking 147 isn't just another demand, it's not just a champion's demand like what gloves to wear, like who walks in first, like the purse split - this is a completely debilitating demand which turns Canelo into a dead man on fight night and Floyd concedes no physical advantage...it makes it a non-fight. This is coming from the same people who go on about DLH being dead at 147 against Pacquiao - the difference is Pacquiao jumped 2 divisions direct to meet DLH, so was also at a big size disadvantage - yet people can defend this? The double standards are beyond belief

If Floyd doesn't want the fight on an even playing field, then why even entertain the idea, why even enter discussions? I'll tell you why, so he can say he didn't duck!!! This is the whole point of this charade, why they're "in talks" - then Floyd can say "I offered him this and that and he said no. Where was Canelo when I was 21 winning titles. My health comes first"

Erm. Floyd is 154 champ. The 154 champ is being challenged, so.. fight happens at.... 154!

They're both champions at 154...that's where they should fight. Simple

I can see both sides of this argument.

When Mayweather fought the top boxing name and PPV draw at the time De La Hoya, he had to move up in weight, take a smaller cut and have no say in minor details. It was take the fight on De La Hoya's terms or there be no fight. Now when the rematch was being talked about, Mayweather held more cards and if you remember this fight was scheduled to be at 147. So now Mayweather is in that top PPV draw position (as was De La Hoya), why should he make the concessions when he isn't the challenger?

From a boxing and legacy point of view, beating Alvarez at 147 will not add to Mayweather's legacy. He would be better off fighting Bradley. If Mayweather wants to silence the critics and add to his legacy he has to take the fight at 154.

Is there an actual quote of Mayweather or Ellerbe saying this, or are you morons just overreacting to conjecture, yet again.

  12. So he has no problem facing Cotto at 154 because "I want to fight the best Miguel Cotto" yet he can't face Alvarez at 154 even though he still holds a title there ?

And still *****'s are defending him, i just don't get

Your first point - Mayweather is the PPV draw but Canelo is a champion as well, not a challenger. This is for the undisputed 154 title. Canelo has no business and no interest at 147. Mayweather has been happy to take 2 titles at 154, hold the Super title for over a year and claim on his last trip to 154 (a year ago) he wants to fight guys at their true weight - by fighting at 154 he's including that division in his claim

So I'm struggling to see how it can be called anything but a duck if Mayweather avoids him at 154 bearing in mind everything he's said and the fact he's fought there as recently as his penultimate fight

Of course, I agree completely with your second point. He's better off saying 154 is too big for me, and I can't fight him there...but Mayweather will know he'll be called a ducker then as well, because he's basically saying he'll only fight certain guys in a division he thinks he can beat, but avoid others...

Divisions are there for a reason, if you fight in it, win titles, and keep them and claim you fight people at their own weight then stick to it, or you're ducking. End of story

I want to face the best MIguel Cotto, but I want a weight drained zombie Canelo...

Floyd recently won his 2nd world title @ 154 . But yet he does not want to fight @ 154 when it comes to Canelo . Hes beginning to DOUBT himself and it shows . Well.... It was all fun while it lasted but the fight is not going to happen . Floyd once again has ducked another fighter . Floyd/Pac all over again .

With regards to my first point, in this instance team Canelo are saying they want Mayweather and the public is demanding it. Mayweather isn't saying "I wan't Canelo, now come to 147 and fight me".

I agree, he's a title holder at 154 so if the fight happens, it should only happen at 154.

I'm not sure how I would feel about a rehydration limit either. As a Floyd fan I want to see him fight Canelo at 154 with no limits so there can be no credible criticism should he win.

Then again, we haven't heard anything from the Mayweather camp so this could just be nothing but speculation or team Canelo putting pressure on Mayweather. I would not be surprised to see this fight announced at 154.
