Team Mayweather: 147 for Canelo or no fight

Agree, it may well be speculation - my first reaction when I read it was "Nooo wayyy" - now I definitely lie in the "Mayweather has ducked and conveniently been inactive when it matters" camp but even I was surprised by that, so hopefully it's not true

 

Look who he fought there. Cotto doesn't belong at 154, he just can't compete anywhere else. Pac beat his ass to 154.

Oscar? Guy was campaigning at middleweight at that point in his career. He wasn't 22. I still don't get why a guy this young can't make 147 comfortably at his height. What is Canelo taking?

Floyd beats Canelo in a Baldomir kind of fight at 154. Who wants to see that? The day after it will be "boring", "runner", "never going to watch him again" ... At 147, I think Floyd would stand his ground more and it would be an exciting fight. Either way, the earliest this fight gets made is May 2015.

Been saying it a while now and I'll repeat it again: 154 or bust for me. I don't care if the catchweight was 153 pounds, not interested. I hate catchweight fights.

The only instance where I 'might' be able to forgive a catchweight is if they met at like 152 and it was for 'no title' and just for the 'fans.' I could 'maybe' live with that, even if I wouldn't prefer it. No catchweights for titles, ever.

I really want the fight at 154 or not at all. If it's not at all, I don't consider it a duck either. Giving up 20+ pounds in the ring (13.6+% of Floyd's overall weight) isn't a requirement for me, sorry.

 

In all honesty , I would not be surprised if he announces another 2 year retirement in the next few days . Not even a bit.....

This entire narrative highlights the difference between being seriously included in a conversation with ATGs like Duran, SRL, Hagler, etc...and not. If true, it's decisions like this which will always keep him on the outside looking in, sadly. History never forgets. But legacy don't pay the bills, right?

Contract is for promotions and broadcasting rights. Nothing to do when and if he can retire. No contract stop you from doing that. He can retire today. He gets paid for the work he has already done.

You should really stop saying things as if you are an expert on it.
