    17 years
At the top of his sport even after 17 years.

Is he the most successful athlete in the history of sports just looking at how long he has dominated for?

I'm not talking about achievements. Just longevity.

    Any other boxer? Athlete even?

    Federer has been more impressive

there are no weightclasses in gold or tennis, they face all sizes and ages.

Unless you consider Golf a sport. Tiger is still up there and will likely be there after Floyd retires. Tiger is on 16 years now but Tiger was rated at the top within a few years so Tiger has been rated higher longer.

I don't think so. Federer has been dominating in the early-mid 2000's. But in terms of just winning consistently, you can't deny that Mayweather is tops.

Tiger hasn't been doing great the past few years. He's still not doing well.

What you consider bad for Tiger is still in the top 5. He's #1 player right now.

Federer's longevity relative to his sport is more impressive than Mayweathers'.

No I don't think so. It's certainly an impressive feat, but not to the level of Mayweather. Federer would be similar to Pac.

Pac has been dominating for a few years but then he started to slip

Similar to Federer. He was dominating until Nadal came along. Now it's even worse. Djokovic is the one reigning nowadays

Are we taking into account that boxing is one of the hardest if not the hardest sport?

Yeah cause fighting 0-0 Roberto Apodaca at Texas Station Casino in Las Vegas back in 1997 means being on top of the sport.
