Forget about legacy. Floyd and Showtime are about the money. I don't believe Canelo is just after the money, I think he's also looking to prove himself. He proved it by taking the Trout fight. A fight Floyd would have never taken.

If Showtime took a loss on Floyd's last fight we will see Floyd-Canelo sooner rather than later (September). If we see Canelo take the September 14th slot and Floyd takes a break, then comes back late in the year it also says to me Showtime took a loss on the May 5th card. Same thing if Floyd and Canelo appear on the same card in September but fight different opponents...May 5th didn't pan out like they hoped it would.

Khan, Alexander, Garcia, Peterson, Matthysse, none of these guys get Floyd 1.5 million buys in September which is what Showtime needs to make real money off a Floyd fight. They are paying him a boatload of cash.

So when somebody says Canelo needs Floyd not the other way around I have to question the wisdom behind a statement like that. A Floyd-Canelo fight gets Showtime the PPV's they need to make real money...something none of the other guys in GBP's stable can do.

We will soon find out.

I would be fine with a catch-weight or re-hydration clause. This is the kind of fight that merits such measures.

Canelo don't want to get paid like PBF did. He also isn't going to dictate to PBF. PBF doesn't need Canelo but the same can't be said for Canelo. IMO Canelo could lose to Lara at 154 and Martinez, Quillen and GGG at 160 and never get that big payday against PBF. Taking and L like that L and losing his marketability. Meanwhile PBF will possibly fight Garcia, Lucas, Peterson, Khan or Alexander and retire undefeated with big pay days everytime he fights.

Canelo better cash out. I don't see him really dominating at 160 or 168 where he'll soon be. After over 40 fights he's not gonna get much better, either. I don't care how young he is now.

 

This is the best fight out there for Floyd, but we know if Floyd fought him at 154lbs where not getting the best Floyd. If Foyd is defending his 154lb title or challenging Canelo for his title, then the fight should be at 154. If there just fighting to see which guy is better then, Floyd should not fight him at 154lbs. To make things comfortable for both fighters, it should be a catch weight at 150lbs.

 

Here's the ****ed up part for me. On his way home to 154, he had to pass by Floyds house at 147. All he had to do was stop right there and start hounding and clowning and calling Floyd out. I'm quite certain that Floyd would've stepped down from his throne and put a personal ass whoopin on him for clowning in his neighborhood. Instead, he rode straight pass Money's house to his house and got strapped. Then he wanna act like he's ready for war but only if Floyd comes to his house where he feels safe and is laying like a fat rat thinking he's gonna get some cheese. What he don't know is that Floyd don't give a **** about his neighborhood cause he is the King of 147 and if you want what the king has, you must be willing to come to his kingdom and take it. Just going by past history, if Floyd wanted the little **** that Canelo has, he would be on his doorstep with the intent to take that ****.
