Not who has the official recognition, but give me your top 5 154 rankings on who you think is the best.

1.Erislandy Lara- I'll favor him over ANY 154 pounded in the division. He was gaining momentum in the Vanes fight, starting to land cleanly, shame the fight ended the way it did.
    2. Canelo Alvarez - Good, fast, strong, stamina not so great and a limited boxer. There were times in the trout fight where he literally did not know what to do. Lara would outpoint Canelo. I never pick the puncher over the boxer.
    3. Carlos Molina- He's gonna take Ishe to school, although i don't enjoy Molina's boxing style, he's very effective.
    4. Austin Trout-Nothing too special, good fighter, nothing really stands out but solid.
5.Miguel Cotto-fading, probably will be taken out of my top five next fight.

If Mayweather chooses to fight at 154, he beats all of them. Easily.

That's stupid, boxers get beat by punchers on a regular basis. You have to look at the individual fighters instead of making generalizations.

That's true you can't generalize in boxing but the boxer, given good chin and stamina, is better off than a puncher with limited boxing ability.

How much **** would Alvarez have got if he performed as poorly as Lara did against Molina and Vanes? If the Lara who turned up for those fights fought Alvarez he would Lara beaten handily.

Very interesting people who voted Lara ahead of Canelo. Lara only managed a draw with Molina (and should have lost) who is 3rd on the OP's list, and not even in Caestus top 5. He's 30 years old so it's hardly "potential" - admittedly he was robbed against Williams but this is a post-Martinez Williams who came back down to 154 - this sums up Lara's most significant fights

Canelo however beats 2 of the figters in both posters' top 5 - yet is rated at #2 behind Lara :)

Canelo is the #1 until such a time as Lara gets in with a Trout or Canelo and proves what he's got, seeing he didn't manage it against Molina then I don't see how he can be ranked #1
