Shouldn't Jones be trying to rematch Byrne, he seemed to hit his level in that fight

Understatement of the year :thumbsup . Jones is the level of opposition that Gavin should be facing next.

Even then I think Byrne deserved the nod. Purdy would of beat the shite out of him that night if that was the performance he was going to put in.

The Byrne fight is not a true reflection of how good Jones is. Purdy is a lot better than the awful Byrne, but I still believe that Jones would have beaten Purdy if they'd fought when they were supposed to. Purdy pulled out, Byrne replaced him and he fought an utterly flat, disinterested Jones to a draw. It was a terrible performance, of course, but people act like that's the level Jones is at which is clearly untrue.

Jones isn't a world beater but he is a solid gatekeeper to the top 15-20. He belongs in the same category as guys like Bailey, Diaz, Holt, Soto Karass etc..

Brook has to make a real statement he and stop Jones , a points win wont be enough to convince the doubters, i think he will be much stronger this time , we will see the best Kell Brook in my view

Good tests? Kell had his 1st fight in 2004 for **** sake. He should have had all the tests he needs by now.

I am a huge fan of Brook but after this fight, he needs a big fight. Diaz will be dog****, Senchenko will be just about acceptable. It's getting boring now, Eddie is going to end up undoing all the good promotional work he did with Kell since he signed him.

his career is going to look like ricky hattons his biggest fights are going to come when hes had 35+ fights. Theres everychance his best years are going to be wasted. Im not convinced he will be as good others say hes going to be but even so he needs to be in and around world level fighters now not messing about with a rematch that he doesnt really need

Don't see a problem with this fight. Kell just needs to get back in the ring ASAP. Jones is no bum and will present a challenge and provide Kell with an opportunity to lay to rest any questions from their first fight.

Senchenko is woeful, beat up by Malignaggi, struggling badly against a shot to bits Hatton.

    Where is the risk?

Maybe that's 'cause most of us are boxing fans and not promoters and therefore have nothing to gain from a fighter taking on soft touches. If I was Hearn would I put Burns in with someone like Vasquez/Broner for his next fight? No. As a fan though? Hell yeah I wanna see it. Most of us are here as boxing fans. More interested in...you know talking about fights as opposed to pulling numbers out of our asses, talking about PPV buys, promoters and who made how much money.

Tests for what exactly? The guy has been a pro for 8 years FFS!, so how many more tests does he need? It comes to a stage where either he's good enough or he isn't, and Brook is at that point. I have no problem with the Jones fight BTW, as Brook's been inactive but after that? Come the **** on.

As a fan of Brook's who's been to his last few fights at Sheff Arena I've got to say I don't think I'd go to watch if he's fighting Diaz. Unless the undercards really good I'll be giving it a miss. Just want to see him fight top 10 fighters now.

The Jones fight as a tune up in Hull makes sense, him headlining Sheff Arena against Diaz after that isn't good enough
