Actually, Byrd and Adamek are almost giants compared to Marciano's sizes...
    This thread is LOL.

Here's what happened to another small heavyweight against Wlad. But in this case a much bigger, slicker man than Marciano. If Byrd cant avoid getting slapped around the ring, how in the hell would Marciano? Granted, Rocky had a better chin and was a come-forward swarmer, but in this case these attributes would only work to his detriment as he'd just sustain more punishment.

Chris Byrd was finished and shot in the rematch against Wlad.

Two years eariler he was beat and knocked down by Golota who was even more shot to ****. Golota could bearly move and had lost the use of his jab and wasn't troubled by Byrd in the slighest.

Byrd in his prime was easily knocked out in 5 by Ibeabuchi and 6 fights later Wlad didn't have the ability and couldn't put him away..

The conclusion to be drawn up here is that Ibeabuchi was a better boxer than Wlad.

Povektin also knocked out that Chris Byrd....Is it only a good win for Wlad, but not for Povektin?

Not at all, I'm just saying that if another small heavy in Byrd, who is substantially bigger, longer, and slicker than Marciano just got slapped around the ring, how can a smaller guy with less reach and much poorer defense hope to last?

Uh huh, did you see the fight? The reports are rather split on it, it's not like Floyd-Castillo where we actually witness Castillo winning. :deal

Interesting point. I think the quality of Marciano is probably going to get underrated considering how out-sized he'd be but we're in a rather dilapidated HW era. I don't see why Marciano couldn't beat any minus the K brothers.

With the nutrition etc in the modern era Marciano would almost certainly be cutting weight to make light heavy, he would hold absolutely no advantage going up to heavy, he would be tiny. The only reason he would go up to heavy is money but he wouldn't make any significant impact on the division

Because of ESB-standards, the old time fighter have super powers, and would just walk through every top boxer in any division today.

So the old timer vs excisting athlete discussion alway goes down like this: AAAH! The old timer would just kill the new guy! The old timer was so brutal, that even because he is half the size of the other man he did not even try to win, to get KO og the century.

Patterson started his career at middleweight. Ali started his at light heavyweight. What weight Byrd started at is irrelevant. He was a legit heavy. He fought almost his entire career at that weight, and fought his most meaningful fights there.

Incidentally, his last fight at LHW was a complete disaster, because Chris was (guess what!) totally weight drained.

History is filled with lies, and statistics don't prove a damned thing.

Athletic, well schooled giants are a modern phenomenon; prior to the 1970s almost everyone over the height of six five was a lumbering oaf with marked disadvantages over their smaller foes. Fighters like Lennox or the Klits were unheard of in Louis's day. Jess Willard was the best that Dempsey's era could come up with, and he was pretty horrible. By Liston's day, fighters like Cleveland Williams were starting to appear, men who combined speed and athleticism with physical size and strength, by they were still a far cry from the huge men of the late eighties and nineties.

Lennox dominated over a far larger breed of men than any heavyweight of the past. It's also telling that he was one of the largest men to ever hold the heavyweight crown for any length of time. Why didn't Roy Jones do the same, considering how skilled he was? Why doesn't Andre Ward, now?
