He probably is. Getting annihilated by Anderson shouldn't be held against you

 

Maybe he will be the next big thing at MW after Silva retires

 

If its a competitive fight then I can understand but if He gets obliterated or worse get clowned, it would be hard to see him as the next big thing.

 

Just because you cant hang with Silva doesnt mean you are not any good.
Look at Belfort he got KO by a front kick that has never been seen done before and he is now 3-1 only losing to Jones since his fight with Silva.

Maia got played with vs Silva too and now he is the next big thing it seems only one weight class down

 

MW needs a huge shot in the arm, but I cant see Weidman or Luke getting past Vitor or Anderson respectively

An upset on either or both counts would be great for the division

 

I remember people saying Griffin was going to beat him, Sonnen was going to beat him the second time, Vitor was going to beat him. I've heard this kind of talk pretty often. All the smart money is on Silva via KO.

 

Silva always finds a way to win.

 

Not saying Hes not good. What I meant was that some fans aren't going to be too excited if what they want is a new superstar(which Weidmans being touted) Yes Vitors still a good fighter but He'll lose some, He'll win some. The UFC needs another mega star. Now if Weidman wins, He's that new guy.

I do, and it was comparable to the amount of people giving Weidman a shot now. When it came to Vitor Belfort, well not so much and only a punchers chance. But, I can remember a few of my coworkers at the time believing Forrest was going to give The Spider trouble. Those guys were as big of fans as us. If The Spider picks Weidman apart and punches him out like everyone else it only proves how underrated he is. A fair amount of people in the business see this as an even match up and can't choose a winner.

Anderson Silva is in a hard place because he is above and below the #2 and 3 best fighters in the World. He isn't a LHW and GSP isn't a MW either. But, he is not the poster boy of MMA and his personality puts some people off. He looked soft at LHW, but devastated opponents in the opening round. Those men weren't JJ though. He's been ready to have the super fight with GSP for some time now, and I don't believe GSP will take the fight until there are obvious signs that The Spider has lost a step.

Silva v GSP should come before Silva and JJ anyway. If JJ fights Silva first and wins then a lot of money goes out the window. If GSP wants it after Weidman he will get it as early as December. End rant.
