What Did Maidana Do to Beat Lucas?

Marcos Maidana is so tough. He is extremely tough. Did you see how he got up so easily after the body shot? It looked extremely painful yet he still went the whole distance!! Man when I see stuff like that I admire the boxer greatly. It reminds me of when Ali got up from Frazier's left hook very quickly after 15 rounds.

 

Volume punching. Maidana will always beat Matthysse under amateur rules.

They had several bouts, all very close (I think a couple were draws, the rest narrowly scored for Maidana)

Where the hell did you get the idea he ever "whooped" him in any of them? None were ever reported to be even remotely one-sided. They were evenly matched.

 

Lucas has faced Marcos Maidana four times in the amateurs. Marcos won three times and the fourth fight was a draw.

He just had to be better than the cab drivers Lucas has knocked out.

 

Matthysse tries to box and sometimes fights going backwards, he only changed it from the Zab fight, so he probably fought going back against Maidana

 

I'm guessing Maidana used to be a pretty good AM boxer...

 

Matthysse current fanboys don't understand that he used to try to box more than rely on power. After he took losses he adapted his style to not leave it up to the judges. My guess would be that he would try to place shots while Maidana would go out swinging.

Both fighters are interesting. I'm looking forward to Maidana vs. Josesito next.

 

It's so crazy to ever envision Maidana as an amateur fighter. I just can't see his style being that effective in the amateurs.

 

This, its not the Matthysse fans that dont understand this its the other people, people were saying he would lose to Peterson because he went the distance with Zab, he is clearly more aggressive now and tries to go for the ko from the start
