Langford, I do rank Louis above Langford, mostly I seen more of Louis, than Sammy. BUT, Langford beat the best guys above his weight. I think I may lean with a rank over Louis perhaps.

Robinson, Perhaps, Robinson is pound for pound number 1 on MOST people's list, I think Suger Ray could be over rated in this regard. Of couse I have Ray over Louis. Mostly off his middleweight and welterweight foes.

Armstrong, I dont see it, What Armstrong did was amazing. Armstrong stands at number 2, behind Barney Ross.

Greb, Yep, other middleweight whipping the big boys.

Charles, I rank Louis over Charles as heavyweights. Pound for pound would swing to Charle's weight jumping from middleweight to heavyweight, and winning the title.

Walker, I do rank Walker over Louis and for good reason. 2 divsion champ. Former heavyweight rank contender, and the draw with Shakrey puts Walker over Louis in a pound for pound sense imo. Yeah as heavyweights ok, but Walker was a middleweight taking on the big boys. And that adds more points for Walker. Only Max Schemling put Walker in his place, from the heavyweights.

Pep, yeah I rank Pep higher than Louis. Pep didnt do much weight jumping, but he was amazing in that ring.

Moore, mmm, not sure. I think Louis would be rank over Moore. But its hard to do with his middleweight and lightheavyweight and heavyweight run. And nearly 300 fights.

    Duran, Nope, Duran's weight jumping.

Fitzsimmons, nope, Fitz was the first man to win 3 weight titles at middleweight, lightheayvweight and heayvweight. Fitz made the word pound for pound lol.

Ali, yes, Louis is rank number 1 on my heavyweight list.

    Burley, not sure.

Benny Leonard, nope, Benny Leonard like Pep was a master of that ring. Also Leonard clean out his era before he retire. Only to go broke and return. His fights with Tendler are legend of couse.

    Ray Leonard Yes

Barney Ross, Nope, 3 weight divsion champ, and held the 3 titles at the same time a good 4 years before Armstrong.

Gene Tunney , Pound for pound might go to Tunney.

physical attributes, and 25 title defenses. He'd be ranked higher but I have to dock him points for losing to Schmeling.

But Ross held 3 weight titles from lightweight, Jr Welterweight and the Welterweight title.

Lets not forget that he held all 3 at the same time when he beat Jimmy McLarin for the first time. I think I rank Ross over Louis. Also wins over Canzi, McLarin, Petrolle, Battling Battalino, are a better group of fighters than the Baers, Carneras. ete/ The only fighter on this level is perhaps Conn.

You're right. I guess Charles and Ross had more on the ball.

I think Joe Louis was as great as any fighter who ever lived.

To be honest I believe all this talk of lists and ratings is kind of meaningless, but I believe that some fighters belong in the highest category of greatness, the true all-time greats. Joe Louis is one of them.

louis > burley, tunney and probably sugar ray leonard.

can see how someone could argue for tunney and leonard above him, though.

the rest are all above louis, probably.
