If Carl is not well known then he has one amazingly loyal and huge fan base to sell out the O2 in a matter of hours that only the truly global superstars do.

Im not saying hes a global superstar, but he is a bit more popular than some of you make out.

Concerning the build up to the fight, i think we'll see the Sky Machine kick in from Monday as well as the papers.

The fight selling out could just be lies. Khan tickets sold faster than hot cakes remember?

well said mate, i dont agree with the pay per view we pay enough in sky subscription but to say froch isnt a star to me is rubbish, the o2 was sold out very quickly could of possibly sold out a bigger venue quite easily like a football ground, kessler has big pulling power aswell, a lot of negativity always comes with pay per view

As others have said, the first fight was overrated. It was a good, honest fight but not a classic by any means. But it certainly had more significance than this rematch. A PPV event to determine the 2nd best fighter in the division, both of whom have been handily defeated by Ward? I'm not saying it's a bad fight, it's clearly a decent enough contest, but to me a PPV should be a bit more significant.

Neither Kessler nor Froch are superstars, this is not superfight, and has no historical significance. In fact, the whole concept of PPV itself is outdated and illogical, IMO, when broadcasting is driven by advertising, and advertising is driven by viewership, why firewall your broadcast behind prohibitive PPV?

Fully agree with this. The first was a far better fight,we've more idea what happens this time.Hoping PPV was a thing of the past. This as an exception doesn't bode well.

Had to laugh at the corny soundbites on Ringside from Kalle and Eddie about this fight, you would think they were talking about Ali-Frazier - it sounded so forced, normally I am a sucker for these hypes shows for a big event, but it was just a bit cheesy.

    Hatton never fought on terestrial tv and hes our most popular fighter of the last decade. The reason froch doesnt sell is because;

1.) His calzaghe baiting when joe was retiring. He is very disliked by the average welsh fan (im welsh im a huge froch fan because im a above average boxing fan.)

2.) His personality doesnt exactly set the tv on fire. Did u see johnathan ross? Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

3.) Being with fat mick at the most important time of his career with no stable tv exposure was disastrious. First defense of his wbc title against taylor in the states and it wasnt even on the box or covered in the press?? Outragious.

4.) The super six was hardly given any kind of mainstream coverage in the uk.

5.) Losing to kessler damaged his credibility.

6.) And this last point is the most important and this applies to why the part time average joe fight fans dislike haye aswell. The first fight froch was in when the average man in the street who just watches the big fights took notice was the ward fight. All my mates were up for it. The tabloids were lapping it up and it turned into a boring schooling. A lot of first time froch watchers saw that. And to them, from then on, froch was a boring fighter. Ive had blazing rows with mates who say hes boring basing their opinion on one fight.

Like with haye a lot of part tiners base his career on audley and klit. A fighter becomes a star when all eyes are on him and he performs on the big stage. Froch hasnt done that. Haye hasnt done that.

At realistic prices or Ebay? There are none avalible at the box office.Mayby the touts will put down there prices next week.Anyway I can`t wait I got my ticket and i`m really looking forward to this fight. If the fight did get called off the anti Hearn/matchroom brigade would explode with happiness.

I agree Hatton is another exception to the rule along with Haye. But I feel your point number 3 is something I was trying to get across also.

I also feel guys like Jamie McDonnell in his world title fight last week , his team once they knew Boxnation and Sky were out, should have been working very hard on getting that on Terrestrial Television for a very small fee, free if necessary. I doubt they made any profit only loss on Primetime.

McDonnell would have been alot better off if that fight was live on ITV or Channel 5.

The fight sold out so quickly because the touts took a great handful of them initially...they have sold steadily but I think that anyone turning up on the night might get lucky.

well said, its a good scrap but the PPV side of things pisses me off and its totally not PPV worthy at the regular price
