700 to 900K for this fight is impressive. Floyds' a draw, all by himself.....just because he didid hit 7 digits doesn't mean he's not boxing's cash cow. He not only one of two real boxing superstars, but he makes the most money.

People are surprised that Floyd didn't break a million.....I'm not. Usually Floyds' got a nice undedcard to help with his events where he's the headliner. They were expecting Canelo to be fighting, to help the May Day card do bigger numbers.

Alvarez showed some balls and made a power move and did his own thing. If Floyd wasn't doing a milli' in US PPV buys it was going to be this one....simply because Floyd was absolutely the only real name carrying the event.

 

It's the new breed of fans. They care more about what a boxer does OUTSIDE of the ring than inside of it. They cry when their fighter loses. We basically have ****** Bieber fans disguised as boxing fans.

870,000 is a great number for Floyd Mayweather, considering the opponent.

It also happens to be a bad number for Showtime, considering the investment.

From here on out he's going to be the ONLY name on the card, the numbers are going to go down from here on out.
Gurerrero sells more than alexander, garcia, mattyhsse, or khan...thats why he was picked in the first place! and the fight sucked..fans are even less inclined to see the next one

This is a losing investment for showtime that they will not keep making...there's only one fight to make. Canelo.

 

It is impressive! That's a lot of units being the only one to carry a card like that. It was impressive when Pac did 750K with just Josh! With out all the marketing and prime time specials to help push it to the masses. I think people are disillusioned because guys like Floyd and PAC break a million all the time.....But the fact is, general fans of the sport are the ones who push these PPV numbers up, over a million....if it's not a real challenger...or a very obscure challenger with out a solid under card it doesn't matter if your Floyd or PAC....it's not going to break a Million buys.
