Purdy just stood there taking severe punishment and rarely threw punches. You think he did well ?

 

It wasn't a world title fight for Lee in the end though Ice so that went out of the window yesterday. His body already drained and no real sign i think all Purdy would of been doing was staying in there for the full 12 to look good on record.

Barker probably thought it's not worth it, he's already taking a lot to the body and although no massively marked up he's taking a fair amount to side of head.

I can understand people not being happy but i respect Darren's call.

he shouldvd made it clear that was going to happen, purdy looked shocked. at the same time reading him the riot act may have made purdy even more open to shots but i think barker chucked it in too early

Actually, it was a world title fight for the lad, thats the point. He will never, ever get to box in Atlantic city or against anyone as skilled as Devon Alexander again. It might not mean anything to the lads on here who don't have kids, but it could have been something for Lee to pull out of the cupboard in the future when he's a doddery old **** like me with Grandkids and say "I once boxed a world champion to a decision"

 

Disgraceful stoppage mate. So having 4 weeks prep is an excuse for pulling a fighter out?!! I was assuming Purdy was fighting like that to see it thru to the last quarter and try and wear him down. Good start for Peterson. Broner shouting don't let him get set which is right but Matthysse had his moments. Peterson can box on the move but i really feel Matthysse is one of the rare pressure fighters nowadays who can fight at mid to long range and remain effective against movers.
