Any reason a champ with 23 title defenses, 9 yr reign not be considered an ATG?

Yes, i am speaking of Dariusz Michalczewski.

-More years champion than Holmes, monzon, duran or Ali
-2rd highest no of consecutive title defenses in history 23 (after joe Louis 25/26)
-2nd highest number of consecutive title defense KO's in history 14 (Wilfredo Gomez 17)
-Historic record for most number of light heavy title defenses
-won WBO light heavy title, 3 months later won WBO cruise title, later unified L heavy title.
    -25-2 20 KO's in world title fights

Wouldn't be if he got some coverage during his reign. Could anyone pronounce Calzaghe before it was said by TV announcers a million times?

As far as Welsh names go, it's not that hard.

    1. *Micha* - 'meeha' you pronounce it like "Meehan" (without the "n"), like in Kali Meehan.

    2. *l* - the normal "L" sound (Meehal)

    3. *cze* - "che" like in Che Guevara

    4. *wski* - "vski" like in a typical ending of a Polish surname you only pronounce "w" as "v"

    Meeha-l-che-vski :good

PS. RJJ would whoop Michalczewski. Don't know about ATG or not but his record is not fully relevant considering he was not willing to fight the very best one in the division.

Can't be sure who was ducking who, as I didn't have the internet and knowledgeable folks like you to keep me informed back then...but I thoroughly enjoyed Dariusz's fights. A bout with RJJ would have been something, he was a warrior! Probably would give it to prime RJJ anyways, but still....

Wbo light heavyweight title doesn't carry atg esteem. Ive never followed him. Look at his era and who did he face? Hes had a decent career but you can pick wide holes through his resume. Carefully generated Stats dont carry someone into atg cronsuderation like folk lore can.

ATG consideration going way too far.
