By the time the first few punches landed and then the knockdown, Peterson was clearly ****ed, he didn't want to know. He fought like a fighter is programmed to do but his heart was taken away by Matthysse and he had already lost by the time the first real punch landed IMO
I only answered the question. I think it was premature. I think Smoger should've given him one more go at it.
Yeah it was kinda premature! but i think lamont will learn very much from this fight .. he will be back in the mix soon
I think it was Mercante Jr. You never know, maybe he had a bet on Foreman on the down low. I'm not accusing him of betting, i'm just saying. But to be fair, it wasn't Mercante Jr who forced the fight, he clearly asked Foreman if he wanted to continue, I believe he asked him multiple times and asked him if he's sure. I could be wrong. I know for sure Foreman said yes, that he did want to continue. A ref cannot force a fight to continue if the corner throws in the towel. If Foreman would have said no, he would have stopped it.
I give in.How many? And how many times have you seen a guy seem to recover after being seriously hurt and go on to suffer career-ending injury? I suspect not many, but I had no complaints about last night and if Lanont is truthful about previous health problems,he'll know it's better to live on and fight another day. He won't be the first top name to get stopped by Lucas.
I hate the modern tend to stop fights quickly. I'm all for protecting a fighter from brain damage, but we all know that refs now tend to jump in waaay too early. I say it all the time: If Ali fought Foreman today, doing that rope-a-dope, he would have lost by TKO. A fight should never be stopped just because a fighter looks like he MIGHT get hurt, only if he IS hurt, and unable to defend himself. If he takes 5 or more shots in a row without firing back, but his arms are up blocking them, and he's still on his feet, then a stoppage is complete bull****. End of story. - But this is the norm today. It has robbed so many fighters of their chance, and robbed the sport of gaining more fans, as all of those stopped fights were heading for fan-freindly endings. Also: By getting us used to this, it has becomes just another way that the powers-that-be can control fight outcomes.
Rematch?? This was one of the least competitive relevant fights all year. I thought it was 50/50 going in and Lucas proved me way the **** wrong - even though I bet on him - and completely manhandled him.
That was'nt the case in this fight. Peterson was knocked down in the 3rdd and unlike the knockdown in round 2 was right up on steady legs. If you look at the last knockdown, Peterson gets up the instant his ass hits the canvas, yet Smoger waives it. The job of Smoger in that case is to calmly analyze Peterson and ask "are you good to continue?" What good reason was there not to?
Peterson fell back sideways after trying to get up from the second one he coulda easily stopped it then **** off about premature stoppage
If you don't stick Matthysse's **** all the way down your throat and choke on it, his nut huggers will go after you. You have to see the fight in black and white. You just can't give props to Matthysse and give your opinion on the action that took place. Let the cult following continue, maybe it ends with Garcia, maybe it ends with Mayweather.
