One thing is for certain Saturday's Prizefighter sucked I was even flicking over to the Eurovision Song Contest at times. :yikes Sir Edward needs to up the ante next Prizefighter I was was thinking maybe electric shock groin gaurd's or something along those lines.
There was better action at the Eurovision song contest tbf, I was surprised Eddie wasn't there snapping some of them maniacs up.
The principle is ok but it needs a revamp if it is to continue for me, I think its still a goer if they make it 4 people instead of the eight. Raise the quality of the four by taking the 80k and adding say 20k to it making a pot of 100k for the evening. 2 semis finals x 6 rounds then the Final x 6 rounds Breakdown something like 50k winner 25k runnier up - two losing semi's share the other 25k, in this day and age thats not a bad wage for people on the verge of the top 4 in Britain. Something like Welters Purdy,Hatton,Theophane, Foot Light-Middle - Ekundayo,Godding, Hall, O'Meara Super Feather - Skyes, Stephen Smith, Foster, Appleby. Left out better fighters who might be on the verge of things etc and I realise that ****** may not release his fighters on the other hand he might fancy the odd shake up. Just think the quality is suffering now and they need to do something. I think this is an interesting time for Eddie Hearn, he came in and said he was going to shake things up and give us value etc etc and largely I have no complaints with what he has done, his fighters are getting some big fights and decent pay days but he cannot be happy with the way prizefighter is going now, if he leaves it alone and does nothing I think we know that the end game is all that matters, rather than value etc. It might get decent figures but thats because guys like us love our boxing and we would watch almost anything as this proved but Hearn has a decent team with him he must know its not hitting the spot as it is.
It is **** but it always sells out and the general sports fan tunes in to watch it. For real boxing heads its a total nonsense.
Prizefighter should only be for heavyweights! In that way you will get loads of knockouts. A good prizefighter would have Haye, Delboy, Price, Fury etc, in the line up. Putting no marks and journeymen is a ****ing joke. It can do well but Eddie is putting **** fighters in which makes it a joke. Cant see were he makes his money.
There's a place for prizefighter. I think it's more of a live spectator format, you can really get into it live (especially if you have a mate involved) but it just doesn't make great TV.
Id rather watch skittles tbf or even 10 pin bowling, Prizefighter is like the colour Magnolia, ****ing vile in every single capacity.
Eddie in an interview with Kugan you said you read all the boxing forums. So if your reading this put some cash and get a good prizefighter going. The format is set for heavyweights so get Price, Haye, Delboy, Fury and make some cash. Cant earn money of bums Eddie FFS. With my ideas you could make a few quid.
Think even the Sky crew were fed up on Saturday night. Nelson and Piper both saying that one guy was already knackered compared to his opponent in the final and had no chance shows that the luck of the draw players too large a part as well
I'd rather not see established names competing in Prizefighter. Apart from the fact I have seeing current/former British, European and 'world' champions lower themselves by entering Prizefighter, that is not what the tournament is about. It's about - or should be about - giving the unheralded, untested and/or unfortunate fighters on the domestic scene a chance to earn a decent payday and catapult themselves into title contention.
Its not that awful, there are some decent cruisers around but the whole division is green & filled with prospects. Look at the top 10/15 & none of them have had 20 fights, most of them haven't had 10! In a year or 2 the division will look very different & there are loads of competitive looking fights to be made.
