Lucas matthysse the real thing or overhyped

I've been a fan of Lucas for a while now, people forget his Boxing ability because his power over shines everything else. Some people are hyping him to be the second coming of Jesus, but he's not overrated.

I think he won both fights v Judah and Alexander, but him being robbed was arguably a good thing because its turned him into a spiteful fighter who looks to get the job done inside the distance so he isn't screwed again, I have no doubt had he of battered Peterson for 12 they'd of ****ed Lucas over somehow.

What's amusing is in the general, people were like "if he beats Peterson we'll give him credit", he then pole axes Peterson in a way never been done before and they still don't give him credit... Hard lot to please

 

Good power but far too wild. See those punches Lucas threw which had him off balance and eventually on his ass? Garcia would have timed him perfectly. Bump this thread when it happens.

Schaefer is a scumbag. Watch the first knockdown, you see Schaefer in the background shitting himself.

No doubt he wanted Peterson to win.

 

Overhyped by a minority, but by and large he's being appreciated for the fighter he is. If you're a guy who's inflicted 24 knockdowns in your last 12 fights, people are gonna' talk about you. He has a few other subtle things which don't get as much attention:

- Handspeed (Jeff Mayweather noticed this)
- Good footwork
- Can counter
- Quite responsible, defensively
- Competent on the inside
- A lot of physical strength for a small JWW

But at the same time, he's not without his weaknesses.

This is a concern for me. He looked ridiculously off balance at times... if it was Garcia in there, I could see him catching Lucas with a hard counter for his troubles- and if Danny can survive the early onslaught, then all of that punishment will accumulate over time.

 

People are just catching up on Lucas, this has been building for a couple of years now. Just looks like he burst on the scene and being over hyped to some.

 

True. It seems like, by experiencing those harsh decisions and converting to his new approach of not leaving things in the hands of the judges, he's neglecting a bit of that patient boxer-puncher style he had at the beginning, and is becoming a bit more careless when attacking. He wasn't hard to find against Soto and Ajose and does at times appear off balance when overexcited. His guard is often completely abandoned (when both fists are committed to attacks) and is liable to counters.

 

Yup, and I believe Garcia can hurt him with that left hook if it lands right and lands consistently. No one is invincible. I hope he doesn't become a victim of his own hype, like Tyson and Foreman did. I'm just becoming a fan

 

Judah did just nick it in my view so it means that the man can be beaten. He does seem to have massive power but he is also massively flawed.....he was as wild as **** on Saturday night, some of the hooks that he was throwing were laughable, coming from the back row and completely unbalanced. A decent counter puncher with a nerve and able to stick precisely to a game plan will be able to take advantage, maybe even goon the bloke.

 

That describes Garcia precisely imo. I hope he takes the fight, it would be a really interesting clash of styles. I see one of them being taken out in brutal fashion.

Have you seen most of those knockdowns? Not exactly glass chinned stuff Peterson is a very durable fighter.

Agree completely about the punishment he takes. He is no Brandon Rios but he is a little crude at times with his offense and looks quite small at the weight especially compared to Peterson. Slips shots, doesn't bull rush in constantly and seems to be composed with his power rather than desperate. Don't rate Garcia at all that much though don't see what hes done to impress and showed some frailty against Judah.

The guys a savage and he will show it, think Mayweather will do to him what Peterson did for round 1 for the full 12.
