Did I just hear khan right in his interview ringside?

But that's not how the interview went, though. When asked what he thought of what just happened, he says:

"Amazing power, you know, I'd love to see a fight between him and Maidana. I mean, coming from the same country, that would be amazing. You got two big power punches there. I mean, Peterson had a good gameplan where in the first round he was staying away from Matthysse, boxing him, but then maybe got a little more confident and that's Matthysse wanted. He wanted him to come forward and got him with a great left hook that put him down. I was quite surprised he [Peterson] got up from the knockdown, he showed a lot of guts the way he got up."

He goes on to speak more about Peterson being out of the ring for a while, etc. Then Adam Smith asks him "I'm not sure if relish is the right word, but would you like to share a ring with Matthysse?", to which he, whilst both are smiling, responds:

"I'd love to, I mean, look, when Maidana was knocking everyone out, the same thing happened where I went in there and fought Maidana and beat him. Lucas Matthysse, I think my style would suit very well, you know, I think I definitely would beat a Lucas Matthysse."

Then he goes on to praise the division whilst kinda' wishing he could stay there...

"The 140 division is the most exciting division, and, you know, in a way it's made me wanna' stay in this division. I've not moved up to 147 yet, but this has made me wanna' stay at this division. I wanna' mix it with these guys, man. I wanna' be in the ring with the likes of Lucas Matthysse and the Garcias."

He said that last bit healf-heartedly. Was mainly just trying to speak high of the division.

But yeah, anyway, as usual people taking out of context and misplacing his words. He would have been better off just saying "Nah, man, Matthysse will kill me. I'm just a **** boxer. Sorry everyone if I've offended you for being interviewed and having the nerve to offer my thoughts".

 

Then Khan haters would criticize his mindset as a boxer and say he's scared.

It's a lose/lose when it comes to Khan, nothing that comes from his mouth will satisfy people.

 

I agree, and I hope that he manages to put it all together and get some great wins again... but even as a fan, I'm not holding out too much hope. I've been burned too many times, man :-(

 

I'm not for one minute suggesting that Khan could stick precisely to a plan for a full 12 rounds....first time he gets clipped he'll go ****ing tonto again
