    Good post.

This is my problem with Garcia in this fight. I can't imagine him boxing on the back-foot, or being able to keep Matthysse off balance enough to prevent him getting good shots off. His style of fighting seems to play into Lucas' hands and if you're going to stay in close, either the left-hook or straight-right is going to land before long.

In order to beat Lucas you have to be able to move and circle you can't be stationary with a guy like that. He has good timing and will find you all night. If Garica was more mobile I would probably favor him but he isn't.

I absolutely, sincerely have no fukkin idea how you just brought Khan into this. I was talking about the kind of style that would give Mathysse trouble and how Garcia is not that kind of fighter.

But in reference to Khan, let me say that i believe that both Mathysse and Garcia KO him (again, in Garcia's case) and that when i talk about fighters who are fast, slick and quickfooted i do not include him into that group because i don't think he is slick. At all. His only defence is his footspeed. He has no head movement, badly gauges the right moment to attack and his guard is anything but impenetrable.

Quite the contrary. A lot of people are picking against Danny once again. Most want to see him get knocked out due to his flashy style outside the ring and his Dad's personality. Lots of hate which shouldn't be warranted. Danny isn't responsible for his Dad's actions. If you listen to his interviews Danny says all the right things. He doesn't appear to have any personality flaws (I'll give him a pass for doing rap videos).

As for what goes on inside the ring, people seem to get carried away by Lucas' power which is great but it's not everything. LM just knocked out Peterson. Great. But Danny has knocked out Khan, who at the time, was considered a top guy at 140. This is also a great accomplishment. People say Khan was winning until he got KOed...but Danny adjusted and got an inarguable win whereas Lucas could never really adjust to KO Zab and Devon. Garcia's win over Zab is so underrated. It showed Garcia's ability to not rely so much on his left hook as well as the ability to implement a gameplan drawn up to mute an opponent's strength. What happens when or if Garcia finds a way to take away Lucas' power? Uh oh.

    Why so wide Matthyse stoppage.

I'd call this a 50-50. Both guys have good power, both guys have good skill.

    Favour Matthyse slightly maybe.

Do you not understand polls? :huh

If 90% of people think it's 51-49 in Matthysse's favor, the poll is going to read 90% for Matthysse. The hard numbers don't indicate whether or not all those people voting think it's close. Every one of those 90% could just slightly tip Matthysse, and you're still getting results that look that way.

    Ofcourse I do.

I was just wondering why it was by such wide margin. If a fight was so close you wouldn't expect it to be by such a wide margin in a poll.

    Atleast I wouldn't.

Maybe Matthysse just has more fans/hype, or maybe I'm completely wrong and this fight isn't 50-50 atall. Matthysse is a beast alright.

In Garcia favour regarding these polls, if you remeber the khan fight - both general and brit forums had Khan winning by big numbers - i was in the minority who picked Garcia by KO - which at the time seemed a small minority pick but now seems ridiculous. Garcia always seems to find a way to win, like his pops says, people been betting against him all his life.

I'm still going for matthysse here though in a brutal war

You claim to get it but then seem not to in the next few paragraphs. :huh

It can be pretty close to how you see it, 50-50, except in most people's estimation it's more like 55-45, or 60-40, or 65-35 or such - and wind up this lop-sided if most people tab Matthysse. (but don't necessarily view it, on an individual basis, as being anything ridiculous like 95-5 in his favor)

I think most of us are expecting a firefight, possibly a very close one and probably a FOTY candidate, and yes it's boxing and one punch can alter the course any given moment, and yes Garcia is the real deal - but most people seem to feel that Matthysse will be the last man standing.

It's perfectly digestible to have wide polling results in what is expected to be a close war on paper. (albeit a close war in which one man seems to have a bit more of everything: chin, power, tenacity, accuracy, etc)

You're demanding that numerically the poll reflect how closely matched you think it is - and most probably agree with you - but that isn't how polls work. It can be a "damn close to 50-50" affair but have 100% of the votes go in one direction if 100% of voters happen to see it 55-45 in that guy's favor.

Not hurt...but we've seen Morales get his respect and give him pause and such. Judah, too.

Matthysse has swallowed every bomb ever fed to him without chewing.

I didn't mean to imply any shakiness on Garcia's part, quite the opposite.

It's a case of iron vs. even more iron - just as their power is a case of devastating vs. even more devastating.

Generally the advantage most anyone is going to have over Matthysse is speed - but Garcia doesn't even have that. He too is a slower-than-average guy who relies on timing - and Matthysse' timing is, again, even better.

IB was just giving an example.

But yes, Garcia has been stunned and showed it against Judah
