I've seen on here today and other forums where people have called Peter a devastating puncher. I just don't see it and think his power is overrated by some fans. He was heavy handed because of the way he threw clubbing punches, but not really a puncher to to considered with the better punchers of the last 20 years. Historically he'd fall even further down a list but I'll just cut it off at 20. Was his power overrated in your opinion?

He had good power but was **** poor at delivering it, unless you stood rooted to the floor you'd be alright

Peter was very heavy handed, but his terrible technique, snap, and ability to set shots up effectively kept him from scoring stoppages against more durable fighters and the better heavyweights. In terms of raw power, he had a good deal of it, but still wasn't elite in that category either from a historical standpoint.

Peter was heavyhanded, imagine if he trained really hard to drop 10 pounds or so.
    He would be a monster.

Samuel Peter was built like a bull, and had tons of bricks under every fist he delivered.
The main problem is that throwing large hooks the way he did, most of them won't hit clean, but in terms of raw power, he was a bomb.

hardly overrated, he had huge power, just too little skill to make greater use of it
