I know how you could be decieved by Peter's power, I think it was because of his delivery, for one he was slow and flatfooted, and two, it almost appeard that when he threw his hooks, he didn't bend at the elbows, just threw straight armed hooks, a windmill type of action. I do believe he had hammers just bad technique.
One of the biggest punchers of all time David Haye failed to put down W. Klitschko while Peter smashed him to the floor 3 times and was unlucky not to get the stoppage. This is a proper indication into what type of power 'The Nightmare' carried.
Peter had overrated power. He hasn't KO'd any top HW without rabbit punching. He only looked impressive against C-level HW's.
No Vitali's corner stopped the fight in the 2nd because they ordered Vitali not to use his injured right hand, and he used it.
he had very good power, but sometimes it seemed people acted like he had David Tua power, and that he did not have.
I disagree. Tua was much better at delivering his shots. And sneaking them in on the inside. However, Tua has a eerily similar KO ratio against top 20ish HWs. Tuas problem was getting inside on longer guys. But once inside he had far better tools than Peter. Overall I'd rate Peters power a 10, but his technique only a 5. His footwork being the biggest flaw in his delivery.:think
Peter was a massively strong dude with world class power but he lacked the qualities to be considered a great puncher.
Someone who can generate that much power with that punching technique has to be very heavyhanded. He is just like Foreman if he had better technique he would have had even more power and he is still heavyhanded despite throwing with that kind of technique
