I've been a Mayweather fan for a decade now and whoever even dares say he's the greatest is a complete moron or just another bored e-troll. Mayweather is absolutely nothing compared to the likes of Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Ali and many more. These guys fought everyone in the ring and literally gave their lives in there.

You know, ward at 160 would really bump him into top 10 territory

Ward has the skills to be an atg, but doesn't have anywhere left to go

Mayweather needs the huge fights for his résumé

Pacquiao I could possibly forgive because we know about the arum situation

But mayweather has never even attempted to fight the best

Andre ward is the best out there, being too big shouldn't be in his vocabulary

If gutless Leonard could fight haggler, then ward shouldn't be out of the question

I think Floyd is one of the best boxers of all time, but that's just my opinion, and it would have been nice to be able to back my view up if he'd fought Oscar and Cotto earlier, and faced Kostya, Margarito etc.

possibly true and arguable but if floyd wanted to be even remotely close to the greatest anyone who isn't delusional knows that the fight would of had to occur because they were bar none the top two fighters in boxing at the time all the talk was occuring

If he could literally do that, then yeah, possibly
Mayweather def. had the potential to be ranked pretty high, but it just wasn't in the cards for him. Mostly the way he managed his career which prioritized other aspects instead of legacy.
Still, some great talent to enjoy while it lasts though.

He's easily the greatest since Roy Jones. Skill-wise, he's one of the best of all-time. He just doesn't fight often enough.

    - beat PAC (long overdue) ... a must to be even considered close to greatest
    - beat one more young guy ... Canelo, Khan, Bradley, etc ... just a stay busy fight
    - beat Martinez or Golovkin by KO ... that would be a final proof

The PAC fights left the station. For it to have meant something it would have had to occur a couple of years ago. A Pac fight now would be relatively meaningless in comparison.

People get so hung up on all the old-time fighters like it's cool or something just to know and mention their names. Floyd's resume is definitely not the greatest, but P4P he's got to be one of the top few ever. My opinion.
