Anyone know anything about Darren Barkers deceased bro?

He fought for Repton just as Darren did, at Lightweight.

Apparently he was very very promising.. won junior olympic gold & commonwealth youth games gold. Had a win over Bobby Ward as well (who beat Khan as an amateur).

By all accounts he was going to be a shoe in for the Beijing olympics but passed away 2 years prior.

Darren packed boxing in for a good while after, really hit him hard. Fair play to him for what he's gone on to do since coming back.

this is a good explanation of what appended. He was a talented amateur, would have been on the GB squads. Tough to say he would have gone to Beijing at Lightweight ahead of Frankie Gavin.

Its a tragic story. Think everyone thats not Irish like Barker and want him to succeed.

 

Darren has been through a lot, hes a real gent, really hope he wins a world title.

The Irish Macklin/Lee fans are paticuarly anti Barker. Thats pretty common knowledge to those that have posted on here for a few years. Leonard Gunning has been paticuarly vile in his abuse of Barker. It goes back to Barker bullying Andy Lee a bit back in there repton days.
