    Yup. White, as in proper white. In both appearance and mannerisms. Bascially a Chael Sonnin (a real American **** yeah!) as a boxer.

    I mean, he wouldn't even be that popular. Look at fighters like Jason Litsau, Kelly Pavlik, and Paulie Malinaggi. They weren't really popular like a Dela Hoya or Pac. In order for a white fighter to be successful in mainstream America, he would have the have charisma, be good looking, have skills, and have a middle class background.

    Of course. I assumed that would be a given. Hence why I referred to Kelly Pavlik in my opening post.

    I understand what you mean, but I think he means someone without such an ethnic sounding name (I know that sounds stupid because the white population of America are of European descent).

    There are no real american if you follow this logic! If Paulie is not a white american then who is one? We could say then no this is not a white american because he is british! Or because he is german! You dont have a "real ethnic white american".

    Check out the career of Darrin van horn, I think you will find the example your looking for, had a bit of hype behind him. But he was in a talent rich era, if he come around now there would be more hype

    He's talking about a working class white American from a small town or Suburban area, most likely from the Midwest or South. Malinaggi is an Italian American from Brooklyn. Most working class Americans wouldn't be able to relate to him. It has to be someone like Matt Hughes or Brock Lesnar, which is why UFC is more popular in America. It attracts white males more.

    It's also why NFL is the most popular sport. White Americans dominate the quarterback position which gives the whites something to watch.

    English name? So what the Irish, even Germans aren't considered white? I'm pretty sure in America if you are of European decent you are considered white.

    Litsau wasn't very good, though, was he. And Kelly Pavlik was pretty successful, in my opinion. If he'd have been operating in a more popular division, he'd have garnered much more attention.

    And yeah, I agree, coming from a middle class background (despite it being very unlikely) would be a huge boost. But I reckon his talents -- exciting, skilled and the potential to go far -- alone would be enough to make him popular. His charisma and looks wouldn't need to be more than average, in my opinion.

    I'm pretty sure Rocky Balboa would be considered white if he existed. Paul Malignaggi is pretty much a demographic clone of him. Except welterweight.

    I mean, Rocky Balboa is fake though. But I guess you could base him off of Rocky Marciano, who was a massively popular fighter during his time. But that's different though because it's the heavyweight division and a time where boxing was the major sport in America.
