Will be looking to do more regular saturday shows and less prizefighters when the next contract comes along.

 

I will give the video a watch tomorrow but if that's true then I am a very happy man, best news I have heard all week.

He could move up to heavyweight and knock out a Klitschko for all I care, his love of bassbunter and ****ing hairband means we will never see eye to eye, thats not to mention his gay showboating and fat head.

 

I don't mind Prizefighter at all but it's heavily dependent on the attitudes the fighters have. If the 8 guys all come to fight then it will always be a very good night of casual entertainment but that doesn't always happen, which is strange considering the rewards on offer and the format. All the fighters know it's just a three round fight, so you'd expect the activity levels to be a lot higher then they sometimes are.

I do think there's been a few too many though. I don't mind watching them, I just wish it wasn't such a prominent part of the Matchroom contract. If Hearn puts on bigger Prizefighters and less often, I'll have no complaints to make. I enjoy it enough that I wouldn't want to see it disappear completely but I do think some change could be beneficial.

 

I think he's starting to acknowledge that when we look at the sum total of the Prizefighter experience - its probably not been as successful as was hoped. It's had a few good ones no doubt, and kick started a few careers that were going nowhere fast.

But the majoity haven't delivered a great deal of excitement. I think the problem is the format sounds better in theory than what translates into reality in the ring. In theory 3 rounds should mean a lot of action, a lot of punches landed and a lot of knockouts and a quick pace all in one night which is attractive to TV

But in reality we haven't had a great quality of competitor for the most part, guys blow themselves out in a round and resort to holding, guys are tense and throwing too many shots from far out which means a lot of missing and falling into clinches. All this actually reduces the chances of a KO, its forced.

I think Eddie is right to reduce the number so that it doesn't lose all interest, do less and be more discerning with who competes.

 

Reduce the number? there seems to be more than "too many", ****ing scrap it or makeit 4 a year.

 

4 A year !! Make it once every 4 years more like.
