Froch-Kessler IBHOF worthy

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by ginger warrior, May 23, 2013.

  1. Are we watching a fight on Saturday between 2 future hall of famers

    Or are they not worthy

If Kessler wins he would deserve a spot in the HOF. Froch win or lose deserves one for me.

Kessler maybe because he is such a big deal in Denmark; Froch, no.

Kessler beat Froch and had a run of opponents comparable to Froch's before losing to Calzaghe. What has Carl done better other than sign with Hearn.

**** off DF. Not even going to both responding to that.

  7. I think as it stands Kessler stands more of a chance because of his popularity in Scandinavia,an area that isn't a hotbed of boxing bar 1 or 2 exceptions

But Kesslers record although strong isn't comparable to frochs despite Carl being in much less fights

Another key ingredient to the fight on Saturday is that they share equal footing around the boxing world although frochs stocks higher recently

God forbid you actually explain your reasoning that Froch is a dead cert hall of famer, while the man who beat him and unified the belts and beat a host of top fighters isn't.

  9. Can think of a few examples of excellent fighters who weren't big draws

And Kessler and increasingly froch are big draws

Froch has faced more world class fighters that Mikkel Kessler. Thats why.

Should Arturo Gatti be in the Hall of Fame? Without a doubt. Froch for similar reasons. He didn't beat everybody but he faced everybody as was exciting doing it. Has some big wins over elite fighters.

Froch faced 8 world class fighters in a row. Thats why he is a dead cert hall of famer. Kessler has faced world class fighters sporadically, and I still think you could only say he has faced 5 world class fighters in his career.

  13. Agree

    Frochs record is superior

Froch has defeated Jermain Taylor (undisputed Middleweight chamo), Arthur Abraham (only previous defeat was a DQ, and he'd punched his previous two opoonents into retirement), Andre Dirrell (undefeated Olympic medalist and stylistic nightmare), Lucian Bute (undefeated southpaw, 10-0 in world title fights and avoided), Jean Pascal (undefeated fighter, went on to beat Chad Dawson and become the man at 175), Glen Johnson, Brian Magee and Yusaf Mack, aswell as push Kessler all the way. That IS a HOF resume.

Reallistically Froch won't be voted in if he loses to Kessler again. Benn, Eubank and Hamed haven't made it. If he beats Kessler then he would deserve and probably would be voted in. If Kessler beats Froch in UK then I think he will be voted in. A true defining fight.
