I hope it isn’t Gavin Rees. Ricky will learn nothing, it won’t even be a competitive fight. If a bout with Vazquez or Abril isn’t possible. How about Bogere, DeMarco or Beltran as a possible opponent?

There was only approx 6000 at the Emirates for his last fight, I am sure Hearn will be very disappointed that Burns could not sell out a 8000 capacity arena. Ricky is not the Scottish star and massive draw you believe he is, however he can be by fighting regularly in Scotland in exciting fights, which there is many to be made currently in the division.

In regards to fighting in Vegas, Burns does not have any suitable opponents currently, HBO etc do not want to see him fight Vazquez or Abril as it would be a dull fight.

Kaiser a value your views but am no sure he can get much bigger in scotland, boxin aint exactly the top sport around here and rickys done well enough to get himself to where he is, think its 21 in a row now and been a world champ since that magic night in the kelvin hall nearly 3 year ago, for me thats enough for a BIG fight, a aint too keen on givin these boys who aint mandatory their chance it could all end for ricky easily in one bad round after all this is boxin, so aye am sayin aye, its time to go, lots of clicky cards in vegas for us to phone billy boy

See ya point with regards to the capacity and what he could of had.....but am pretty sure Hearns was happy.......3/4 for an unknown fighter/opponent........and it wasn't with the newage Hearn publicity scheme.

Given Hearns other bills........it defo aint bad.......or is it ?

Woulda thought the opposite tbh.....and for all the wrong reasons......given his last fight.

Thought the yanks would love an aggressive macho fighter.......comes out fighting and going to the wire yada yada.

Burns has had 7 world title fights in a row, surely he is built sufficiently now to take on serious opposition....Rees isn't even ranked

Because unless he walks through Rees' best punches and stops him quicker than Broner,it achieves nothing other than making Ricky look inferior to Broner again and some of us already cop it bad enough about that.
With all the Broner stuff(and we know that fight almost certainly will never happen) it's only going to mean the Americans(who us fans want Ricky to make an impression on) will ridicule anything less than the result I mentioned earlier.

Ricky has always performed brilliantly when he's the underdog or it's a genuine pick em' fight.
He seems to lose something when he's a heavy favourite.
I think Gonzalez was just a bad night at the office, and I still believe Ricky can compete at the very top of that division, but a fight with Rees is almost certainly a lose-lose when it comes to legacy and making noise in America.
I want Ricky in fights most people think he could lose, because I believe that brings the very best out in him.

Mate,I think the empty seats at that fight maybe had something to do with many of us being sickened at losing money on the cancellations for Vasquez.

My problem is that FWP said on the Monday the fight was on,yet Ricky leaves on Tuesday. That meant a lot of us rescheduled at great expense on Monday, and there must have been an idea that something was going to happen on Tuesday.
It's certainly the reason I and a few people I know never went, and we never thought we'd miss another Burns fight in Glasgow through choice.

The Emirates Arena only holds 7k and their was well over 6k there on the night, not a sell out but a big crowd for someone who is really only starting to grab the Scottish crowd.

Ricky should have a couple more big domestic fights, the full England vs Scotland thing is a massive draw and will sell out.
