Froch punch power

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by ginger warrior, May 23, 2013.

  1. Froch has always punched with spite but before bute in his top level fights he had only dropped taylor, now with the destruction of bute and mack with some fierce power is that a sign of things to come or was it tactics(leaping in),time to set himself against inferior opposition or genuine strength and experience coming together to produce improved power

Come Saturday we will know the answer I believe

What's the thinking behind this, can a mans power increase at his age

A mans power can increase for many different reasons. If anything age will be a reason for it to increase.

I'm not sure his power has increased, he just seemed more relentless in the Mack/Bute fight than he was prior, going all out early on with more ferocity than I remember him doing so in the past.

He's always been heavy handed, but lacking a little of the chilling one punch power of a Matthysse for instance

He's been fighting guys with IRON chins like Kessler, AA and Johnson, or slick guys like Ward and Dirrell who are defensively sound. The 5 guys mentioned are notoriously hard to stop, damn near impossible in fact.

Froch is what i would call heavy handed. He certainly his hard enough to gain respect and he will stop you if you don't respect his power, but he isn't going to one bomb a top guy. Let him tee off on you and you'll ****ing know about it though!

  5. Frochs body work against mack was vicious

    And bute was just steamrolled

I think an extra intensity could explain it

Punching with speed has been the difference and better technique.

he hit bute 13 times in a row before the stoppage.it was an accumulation of punches and not unmerciful power.

He still hurt him with big shots. Its extremely difficult to knock down a world class fighter with one shot without them being off balance. Only guys with freakish power can do that.

  9. Where did the power come from in the Bute fight ? We never saw that before.

  10. Yeah but those 13 shots were delivered so bute a classy quick counterpuncher couldn't react, also some of those shots had butes head snap back like a rag doll

Maybe not unmerciful but so intense were his bombs that he left Lucian not knowing where the **** he was

Yeah maybe bute was an easier target than ward or dirrell but he risked playing into butes hands because he had total belief he would blow him away

Another performance like that would be sensational and really put carl on the boxing map

This. At the end of the day, he's a man with gloves on fighting another human. It doesn't mean has punching power increased, it could be that the other guy isn't terminator and can't take consecutive blows. Does that cross anyone's mind?

  12. But frochs last 2 performances have seen him look immense

I think it's a valid question, was it Carl improving or vulnerable opponents

This. People have to remember there are two guys in that ring. Like Boxalot said, Froch has enough power to make you respect him, but he's no KO artist.

Froch has not "one punch" knockout power! He could not even put a gassed out Taylor with many bigs shots down and could not kock him out. Only the ref stopped the fight. On the otherhand you can see this kind of power with Abraham. (Knocked Taylor out cold with one punch. MAck gets stopped often! Kessler has more power than Froch imo.:bbb

  15. I never said froch had 'one punch power' but I think his physique and power are reaching a peak

Whereas abraham always overrated in my opinion is on the downhill slope
