Kessler is 1 of the MOST OVERATED FIGHTERS

Europeans tend to overhype their fighters. Kessler is massively overrated. Virtually no head movement and robotic. Virtually zero ability to adapt as a fight progresses. Against Froch his only recourse was to come forward and engage Froch in a slap brawl. Thats he depth of his skill as a boxer when up against a fighter of a similar caliber


His resume is one of wins against mediocre opponents, with one fight where he beat a top echelon fighter and thats Carl Froch, says it all

I don't agree mate,although I'm not saying he's a genuine great.
He's one of the very best out there at fighting from a classic orthodox stance with no flash.
Stand in front of him and you're in trouble.Move and force him onto the back foot and your chances improve greatly.
Says something that it hasn't happened that often though.
I suppose it's all about definitions.No ATG,but one of the best SMW's outside the top three or four.

 

Bit harsh (because as a person I like Kessler - class act), but yeah, I've never been impressed by him either. Overrated because he put in a decent showing against Calzaghe.

 

Underrated imo!!!!!

 

He will not go down in history as an ATG. But he is an excellent fighter and will surely make the HOF. The Calzaghe fight wasnt onesided at all. The Ward fight was a mess. Remember that before he fought Calzaghe, him and Calzaghe basically cleaned out the whole division. If it was not for his injuries or if Froch fought a prime Kessler he would get knocked out

 

who overrates Kessler? Do you see any threads or people who say he is great?

What was he rated as being? I always saw him as a very solid championship level fighter. Losing to elites like Ward and Zaggers, beating all others.

 

That's what I was thinking.He's a solid championship level fighter who's been consistent for years.

 

If he was Mexican the thread starter would say he is an ATG.

 

He has Froch's number though. bitter brits always negative because they simply can't deliver

 

If you watch that fight again and are really honest,Froch lost that fight through silly mistakes rather than Kessler winning it with brilliance.

Who is being bitter? I'm a Froch fan saying that Kessler is not an ATG but a solid fighter.I regularly say that I became a fan of Ward after he beat Froch,like I became a big fan of Floyd in the build up to Hatton.
