Yeah but was Dawson roided to his gums ? ? The fact that Mosley looked listless and was also on roids and was also widely considered to get a gift, makes it a hard fight to hold against Oscar. I don't hold it against him. I wouldn't hold it against Floyd if Castillo was on PEDs in their first fight either.

Well that's different. Mosley wasn't physically hampered by fighting at 154. His opponents had an advantage over him, but Dawson was probably physically weakened.

Yes he has those wins. A case can me made that he lost some of those but those are wins on his resume.

We don't know what Mosley was on in the first fight with 100% certainty. We know he was on steroids in the second fight.

Yeah Floyd missed out on some of those. Other factors contributed to it but he did.

The Oscar fight is a good win on Floyd's resume considering the circumstances.

I take away a lot. That is why I don't rate Floyd as the best of his era. He should have at least fought Cotto if he wanted to retire. I know Arum didn't want those fights to happen but he still shouldn't have retired. I will always view Hopkins as the best of his era unless Floyd does something off the charts which I doubt will happen.

Not that I know of. I completely understand that. Considering the factors it was a good win. I can't say it was great because once again, Mosley didn't beat anyone at 154. If Mosley would have gone on to beat Winky and become the undisputed champion then I could say that was a great win because of what Mosley did at 154.

I know but I was pointing more towards what both did at that weight. What did Dawson do at 168? Dawson's accomplishments are at 175. Dawson really didn't do anything when he was at 168. The same applies to Mosley. What did Mosley do at 154? Mosley's accomplishments are at lightweight and welterweight.

Yeah we could reverse them but it would even out. For example, I think Oscar lost to Sturm, Quartey, and Whitaker. All were close fights (except Sturm in my opinion) but I thought those fighters pulled out the win (I do have my RBR). I thought Oscar beat Mosley and Tito. Oscar has 6 losses. Take away two and that leaves four. Add 3 and that is 7 losses.

 Hey I can't blame you for thinking that.

 I see your point. My thing is that there are conflicting reports on Floyd fighting Cotto. I remember reading that Floyd's team tried to contact Arum about the fight after the Hoya rematch broke off but Arum didn't want to make it. Then I've heard Floyd was scared and wanted to retire. Whatever the reason was, he should have continued fighting. If the Cotto fight didn't happen then I would have loved to see a Paul Williams fight after he beat Quintana. Or even a Shane Mosley fight in 08. Shane was begging for that fight.

Reports or not on Cotto. Why retire? Then fight Marquez of all people? It's a good win but there were way better fights to take in 2009. I'm just saying, Floyd should have ADDED to his ledger.

Instead he says "Golden boy got me the most successful fights i wanted, and now I need a vacation"

aka I've cashed out. It just hurts me as a Mayweather fan for that to happen.

I feel the same exact way. The only reason Floyd fought Marquez is to show the world that he was still the best fighter. I could understand Floyd wanting to take a tuneup because he hadn't fought in almost two years. But he should have fought twice in 2009. The inactivity is what kills Floyd.

I see why you agree that Oscar ranks higher. Oscar took on the best competition and when you do, losses happen. Floyd has 5 more fights left. Is there anything Floyd can do to be viewed over Oscar in your opinion?

"When you call yourself the best boxer in the world you have to fight with the best. There are other names at 147 pounds and if Mayweather does not have the courage to get in the ring to fight with me, my career has to continue. I won’t wait for him.”

    –Miguel Cotto 2008

"I don't think Floyd Mayweather will fight me anytime, Manny Pacquiao, he might do it, he might step up but not Floyd. I guess Floyd won't fight me because I don't have a vagina."

    -Paul Williams

Floyd Mayweather ducked "Antonio Margarito" in 2006

Shane Mosley was calling Floyd Mayweather since 2006 as well.

On the other hand, ODLH moved up to WW and without hesitation fought the three reigning champions almost back to back!!!

Everybody knows Cotto declined the fight at 140 in '06. He admitted to it.

Everybody ducked Paul Williams if you're going to go that route.

There really wasn't a time when a Margarito fight made all that much sense relative to who Floyd fought in the interim until after Margarito beat Cotto, when Floyd was retired.

    ---

Mayweather just fought the #1, #3 (behind he n Pac), and #3 (behind he n JMM) WW's in his last 3 fights in the division, so I don't know how the statement I quoted is supposed to support Oscar any... :huh
