Look let's be realistic here. Wlad/Vitali/Lewis would dominate any era of HW boxing

They all have multiple losses in their own era, to fighters that were not all that great.. One has to entertain the thought of an Ali, Louis, Tyson, Holmes, Liston would and could hold their own against each and every one of them.

 

You don't have to be undefeated to be the best of all eras.

 

No, but in order to "dominate" an era, your losses need to be minor and preferably controversial, like Jones's were in his prime.

 

Uh Ray Robinson is widely regarded as one of the greatest of all time and would be a dominant force at 147. Doesn't mean ****, he lost to Lamotta.

Look, I never said they would lose to the old greats, or even that you have to be undefeated to be the best.. But the fact is, I have seen all three of those fighters show up and get beaten by fighters no where near as good as some of the past champions we have seen... As a matter of fact I think they trouble anyone from any era, but saying they "dominate" in all eras?? I can't say that outright.

Like I said, the losses need to be minor, meaning not especially damaging to one's legacy. Wlad losing to Brewster or Lennox losing to Rahman were both embarrassing losses to men they should never have lost against. SRR losing to La Motta wasn't.

I think peak Ali gives all three all they can handle, has a decent chance of sparking out Lewis and Wlad, and just as good a chance of out boxing Vitali.

Exactly. "Dominate" is too strong a word and one reason I initially thought this thread was made by a Kltischko fanboy. Not even Ali dominated his era. The closest we've come are Louis, Holmes and Wlad and it's no coincidence that most people consider all three eras to be weak.
