Look let's be realistic here. Wlad/Vitali/Lewis would dominate any era of HW boxing

They all have multiple losses in their own era, to fighters that were not all that great.. One has to entertain the thought of an Ali, Louis, Tyson, Holmes, Liston would and could hold their own against each and every one of them.

You don't have to be undefeated to be the best of all eras.

No, but in order to "dominate" an era, your losses need to be minor and preferably controversial, like Jones's were in his prime.

Uh Ray Robinson is widely regarded as one of the greatest of all time and would be a dominant force at 147. Doesn't mean ****, he lost to Lamotta.

    And it wasn't controversial.

You can bull**** about heat/weight, but at the end of the day, he got his ass beat.

Really? Coming from a Mayweather fan, that must make it true.

Look, I never said they would lose to the old greats, or even that you have to be undefeated to be the best.. But the fact is, I have seen all three of those fighters show up and get beaten by fighters no where near as good as some of the past champions we have seen... As a matter of fact I think they trouble anyone from any era, but saying they "dominate" in all eras?? I can't say that outright.

Wlad was knocked out by Purity, Sanders, Brewster, was all over the place with Peter, yet he would have DOMINATED any era?

    Medication time!

Ha! Wlad would have struggled in the 90's.

This thread is nearly as daft as the "Floyd had a life changing experience in Prison" one.

Ha! He was only fed 800 calories per day, and did hundreds of push ups and sit ups in his cell.

Like I said, the losses need to be minor, meaning not especially damaging to one's legacy. Wlad losing to Brewster or Lennox losing to Rahman were both embarrassing losses to men they should never have lost against. SRR losing to La Motta wasn't.

Ahh, the old Doug Jones analogy.

Doug Jones was Ali's EIGHTH fight in 12 months, in only his SECOND full year as a pro. Ali was 21 years old. Doug was also a super fast guy, who also fought as a light heavy.

What the **** would robotic Wlad do, against a 1967 version of Ali, who was up on his toes dancing, and throwing rapid fire combinations?

    NOTHING!

I think peak Ali gives all three all they can handle, has a decent chance of sparking out Lewis and Wlad, and just as good a chance of out boxing Vitali.

SRR should never lose to Lamotta, stop trolling

He beat him 5 times. :patsch

Lamottas good with a granite chin, but definitely should not beat someone with the calibre of Robinson.

    Stop letting nostalgia blind you.

He was fighting every month you fool!

Do you know what happened after he lost to Jake?

He fought him again just THREE weeks later.

Anyone would pick up the odd loss fighting in 200 fights!

Exactly. "Dominate" is too strong a word and one reason I initially thought this thread was made by a Kltischko fanboy. Not even Ali dominated his era. The closest we've come are Louis, Holmes and Wlad and it's no coincidence that most people consider all three eras to be weak.

Wow you're such a ******, what does that have to do with the man's point.

    :patsch

"Great fighters should not take losses against men that shouldn't lose to"

Oh yeah let's blame it on the fact that they fight once every week. :patsch

This is why you guys are known as nostalgia DICKriders. You can't accept simple facts like Super Heavyweights EXISTS.

Ray's circumstances were different to a guy like Lennox.

OK. When someone like Ray/Ali loses, it's always

    1. They were too old
    2. Heat
    3. Weight

    When it's Lennox Lewis

    1. He has a glass chin

That's how it always is with you nuthuggers.

    Super heavyweights exists in boxing.
