Look let's be realistic here. Wlad/Vitali/Lewis would dominate any era of HW boxing

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses. Every time Ali gets his ass beat or struggles greatly with an opponent you make an excuse to cover his ass up. DOUG JONES, a cruiserweight that Ali had great trouble with and was rocked numerous times throughout the fight.

Well, he clearly wasn't the experienced, savvy fighter he would later become. Jones fought completely different to Vitali anyways so I'm not sure why he's being brought up.

Doug Jones is ****ing ass, nowhere near a world contender. Stop justifying Ali's ****-poor performance.

The fact that Ali knocked out a prime figther that would later win the title back by knockout 20 years later speaks volumes to me. Much more than the insinuation that I think Ali is the best because of self promotion and upset victories.

Jones was a tough brawler and managed to have a few good wins before his career fell off, bringing up a bad performance (but still a win) early in Ali's career is like me bringing up Wlad's early losses or Hopkins' debut. They really hold no relevance on their ability or capability in their prime. It certainly holds no barring on how an Ali vs Vitali fight would go.

Them bringing up Ali's early wins is nothing like you bringing up Wlad's early losses.. Wlad's losses are much more relevant to this conversation.. :good

Wlad's early losses show a transition to his new style more than anything else, that's about all I get from them. That and the fact that he didn't have Ali's survival skills.

Them bringing up Ali's early wins is stupid though, it really doesn't matter if we are talking about prime for prime, for the following reasons:

    1. Vitali fights nothing like jones
    2. Jones was a tough brawler, and fought Ali when he was green & cocky
    3. Good style matchup for Jones

I know Wlad became a much better fighter since his losses, but the manner in his defeats I can't quite turn a blind eye to when talking about the very best fighters of all time at the weight...

Jones wasn't brawler. He was smart defensive boxer. It certainly relevant since Ali had problems with defensive boxers.

I wouldn't really call him a smart defensive fighter, that would be more like byrd, young, machen, etc. The point is that Jones is nothing like vitali.

Yes, he is an infinitely worse fighter than Vitali.

MVC, Lewis should be the first name of the trio...you know to keep the job right.

    Lewis/Vitali/Wlad.

    Just looks wrong otherwise ;)

Nope- the Klitschko's wounldn't have dominated in the mid 90's because Lewis would have destroyed them faster than he did Golta
