You need access, yes. But you don't need a degree. I worked in psych for years and learned how to spot the sociopaths on our unit pretty quickly. I'm still pretty good at it :smoke

Good call. Tyson isn't. I don't think Duran is either. Monzon was a raging egotist, but I'm not sure that it crossed the line into being a pathology (despite the awful crime of passion).

Wanna know who strikes me as a bit of a sociopath? Bernard Hopkins. I'm not 100% on that. I just see some things in his behavior and affect that suggest it.

That makes him a racist extremist. Those views are vile.

But I'm not sure they qualifies him as a sociopath. I think sociopaths are anti-social individuals motivated by selfishness and who lack a conscience.

Ali , judging from his comments regarding 'mixed marriages' was just a hateful racist. Motivated by hate, rather than being a sociopath.

Actually, on second thoughts, that might be Ali.

Monzon is always mentioned in threads like this, and rightfully so,...if only he could heve mastered his emotions outside the ring like he did inside the ropes.

Not really, while not necessarily a psychopath, sociopaths are devoid of human empathy. It's quite different to being simply selfishness. The self centered egomania of boxing does lend itself well to a sociopath and probably encourages it.

People label murderers as sociopaths/psychopaths, which isn't necessarily the case either.

i've worked with sociopaths (two on my caseload now) and they usually are narcisstic as **** and can have very close relationships....that benefit them and have pretty tangible rewards built it.

Ali and Tyson were extremely familiar with fear. Ali needed Cus to sort his head out coming into the Foreman fight. Tyson doesn't make it a secret that he was bat**** fearful.

I always thought SRL could be one. Charming, extremely good speaker, and a master manipulator.

Hagler too except he didn't talk

What line of work are you in bud? 1 of my best mates growing up seemed to have sociopathic tendencies, big ego and reckoned he could have been a world boxing champ if it wasn't for politics despite only having a wide southpaw left hook.He was a compulsive liar, he seemed to prefer to lie than tell the truth if he thought he could trick you into believing a story and sometimes passed off story lines from movies as having happened to him. He cheated on his wife and gf and ripped off anyone he could. I did allot to help him in various ways but he ultimately screwed me over multiple times for large sums of money and tried it on with my mrs another time. Other times he'd mascarade about being the big moral family man.

Leonard is an interesting case, very self involved and certainly didn't show much empathy for his wife and 1 or 2 of his sons don't talk to him for whatever reason. He blames it on alcoholism, which in a way absolves his responsibility. I suppose it shows he had regrets over what happened though and after all we all make mistakes.

Tyson and Ali both on many occasions showed a great deal of consideration for others, which offered no benefit to themselves. That isn't the actions of a sociopath.
