Firstly before i start off my prediction and breakdown for the fight was pretty much spot on with the exception of the 1-3 rounds and 4-6 rounds being reversed. http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=463161&page=19 Froch definitely deserved to win that fight and he fought very well, i still had it reasonably close at 7-5 but the rounds Froch won were big and the rounds Kessler won were close but clear. Im not quite sure how an earth two of the judges had it so wide but im kind of fed up as a lot of other fans are of scorecards that dont truly reflect what has actually happened in the fight. Now i know not everyone is going to agree with what i have to say but i honestly think Kessler is shot or very close to it. I found the fight very hard to watch having witnessed his performance against Calzaghe. Just to summarise last night his legs were made of lead, his accuracy at times was shocking, his head movement non existent, his chin deteriorated and his ability to fight for 3 minutes of every round clearly in the past. Criticise me if you want but a prime Kessler in that ring would have stopped Carl last night. It still took a very good performance from Froch to tame that version of Kessler and at times he was lucky he had that great chin to fall back upon because he was still forced to take the better punches of the fight. I just hope Kessler calls it a day now, he clearly cannot reproduce the form that once made him such a formidable force. Despite the fantastic performance from Froch i can't help but think it was a somewhat shallow victory considering the version of Kessler he was facing. It is clear to me that the previous meeting was a last hoorah and took everything Kessler had left, the proof was in the pudding in the preceding bouts to the second meeting. If Kessler did have anything left it was surely beaten out of him last night, as a fan that was hard to watch.
No where near "shot" you do not go through 12 brutal rounds in a close(ish) fight with another world class fighter if your "shot"
Kessler is one tough ****er, his body cannot operate at nearly the same effectiveness it once did, hence why it was the fight it was. Surely you would know that if you had seen more than 2-3 Kessler fights.:good
It's different fighting the likes of Magee, Bouadla, Mundine in Denmark than fighting other world class operators, lots of things that are effective fighting b/c class fighters don't work fighting fellow world class fighters.....Surely you would know that if you have followed boxing.
Well if you actually read the ****ing post and my prediction you would see that id predicted the fight correctly having looked at his fights with the likes of Green and Magee. Having evaluated the information it was clear that Kessler was no longer operating at his best and thus the fight was relatively easy to predict, i did not however think he was that far gone. Again if you had seen more than 2-3 of Kessler's fights you would be able to come to that objective conclusion yourself. I suggest you stop making this more difficult than it is.
Big Kessler fan here but I agree. Kessler was unable to pull the trigger many times in the fight and should call it a day
A few times Kessler would spin Froch and then nothing happened, that was just one example of the many where Kessler couldn't release his punches whereas in the past Froch would have been given a spiteful one, two. The fight itself was fun but very difficult to watch because you just knew Froch was getting away with so much he wouldn't have 6 or 7 years ago.
I'm a dane and a fan of Kessler but I do believe he should call it a day after 15 years as a pro. A Kessler - Froch III would give some $$$ but at what expence these wars take it's toll on fighters and Kessler is not 25 any more he should stop and be proud of what he have done in the ring. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=30aqf84&s=5 Proof of Kessler Eating Froch leather last night.
Agree that my big hero Kessler should retire soon. I was getting mad after the first 3 rounds where Kessler didn't use his great righthand at all. Never seen Kessler start so slow before, and it was a little to hard to come back from. The work-rate was simply not the standards we used to see. I also think a younger Kessler had finished Froch in round 11, and I've never seen Kessler run out of energy in round 12! Still it was a great fight from Kessler (if you forget the bad start). He was the one putting the pressure and had a solid defence. Give us one fight more back at home against the euro champ or something. Kessler deserves to end boxing with style!
Do you not think any of the reasons he couldn't get shots off and gassed was because of the Froch jab....and type of jab he doesn't face for the majority of his defenses in Denmark
Kessler is now fighting for more than 15 years. He already had a 14 months lay off because of a serious eye injury. He already said before the Froch fight that he might retire. Many fans said before that fight that Kessler is over his prime. I dont think it is stuipid to say that Kessler is over his prime. But Kessler is still (even out of his prime) one of the best super middleweights.
I agree. Ward kept pointing out how wide open Froch was and that Kessler just had to let his hands go. He just couldn't do it enough.
i think kessler can fight 2 or 3 more times. fight an easy fight sense he just lost. he can try n get the trilogy in a neutral venue. win or lose he can fight one more time. hes to young to retire wut else does he got going on??
Everyone knows that Froch carries his hands low and always looks wide open...but his reaction speed makes sure he isn't easy to hit
