Ward is still the WBA champion and the Ring world champion, and p4p number 2 in the world. And he vacated WBC belt himself. And Frochs WBA belt is a paper trash belt. Possibly just a post match interview and adrenaline still flowing etc. Ward deserves respect hes one of the greatest Super Middleweights of all time.
Give dirrell a rematch in the US first and then talk about bringing ward here.. Tbh the 118-110 scorecard killed any small chance of ward coming here
What options does Froch have that Ward doesnt? :huh As far as I'm concerned they both have **** all options at the weight left apart from each other. If Groves fights Stielgtz , the winner is an obvious easy fight for either Froch or Ward and a decent payday.
Yeah Froch, and you're living in cuckoo land if you think Dre is going to come to the UK when he's already embarrassed you. Realistically, it's happening nowhere but the U.S and whether Froch's ego understands that or not is another story altogether.
ward makes peanuts though, if eddie can guarantee ward a nice purse you can bet your bottom dollar he will fight froch in wembley, PPV in england ward will be licking his lips, probably 4 times what he gets in US cause he is a bit of a boring old ****
Ward makes peanuts? :huh Last I recall, Ward made a guaranteed $1.37M for his bout with Dawson. If anything, Froch makes a similar amount. The money would more likely be a bigger sum due to what HBO would pay to broadcast it. We're yet to see the sort of figures Froch pulled on PPV. I don't find Ward boring, especially his last performance.
Cleverley - Although I'd love this fight theres not a hope it will happen with Frank vs Eddie, BN vs Sky. No way either of them want that on a rival channel. Froch wont take it either. Hopkins - Cant see the fight happening at all, Froch wont move up, and Hopkins is touching 50. Its a tough fight and all risk no reward. De Gale - Hes not really an option looking at where they are at now. Would Hennessy and Hearn even entertain that. Groves is realistic but not on PPV and is unproven . Stielgitz should be coming up for him. Chavez Jr is more realistic and a far far bigger fight than any of these.
I thought maybe it was a bit arrogant of Ward to say that Froch needs to fight in America because it is the home of boxing or whatever, I mean neither Klitschko has fought stateside for a looong time, and they are still quite clearly the best at HW, plus, they make lots of money and are national heroes in Germany and Ukraine. If a Brit has such an attitude toward the UK, we are suddenly disgustingly imperialistic, whereas many Americans seem to assume they are the best country in the world. Besides, Froch has fought in the US before, and across the world, a WORLD champion, they know who he is in Germany, DENMARK, (oh how they know about him there!) etc. Aside from that remark, I really like Ward as a fighter, and respect him as a man also (which to be honest is more important than being a fighter), but I won't grow to love him as a fighter until he goes and tests his mettle and risks his reputation in the lions' den of the other guy's home. I like the sound of a rematch between Ward and Froch at Wembley Stadium, a truly iconic temple of world sport, besides, Ward has every reason to feel confident about winning such a fight, although no doubt it would be a more competitive fight if Froch's jab works as well as those first 3 rounds (would be harder to do so of course), and it's not as if he can drag Ward into a toe-to-toe war, so Froch would no doubt be a lot more disciplined throughout the whole 12 rounds. One final thing, on Froch-Kessler III being muted, Mikkel mentioned a neutral venue like Ireland, could be perfect for Froch-Ward as well, with WARD's background!
Whoever Froch fights I think it would be on PPV, but without doubt Froch/Groves would be. That particular door is well and truly back open. As for those quotes, for his own sake I sincerely hope Froch doesn't proceed with the 'I've got two belts and he's got none' line.
This game is as much business as it is sport and froch is the draw, nobody wamts to watch A.drw fight he's boring and safety first. He fought once in 12 and has yet to fight in 13 and nobody really gives a **** anout it. Ward may be the champ but froch is the one who acts like a champ
I don't actually think Carl Froch is the draw at 168, where has this came from..? Its not hard for a British fighter with the backing of the Sky hype Machine, and a opponent like Kessler to sell a fight in his own country. Kessler brought allot of fans along way! I think Andre Ward is the draw at 168, even some mongy casual fans understand that Andre Ward is number 1.
