It depends on the angles of the photos and Marciano was 46 and less muscled but in some photo's similar size difference to Ali vs Frazier and the question is was Marciano 5"11 then I can see Ali being 6'2-6"3

Here is Marciano-Louis and Joe was close to 6"2

That's entirely correct. No, it does not affect power at all, but can severely compromise the ability to consistently unload with power, as you accurately describe.
Novocaine is what I believe you're referring to, and related anesthetics, which Ali was always having injected in his hands prior to his bouts [something Frazier also brought his physician to Manila for, to inject for Joe's arthritis].
Amylocaine was the first synthetic topical anesthetic, synthesized in 1903 under the trade name Stovaine. Procaine, under the trade name Novocain arrive two years later. Prior to these chemist developed formulas, cocaine was the substance of choice for topical anesthesia. It would be very interesting to be able to pinpoint when they were introduced into fists for boxing purposes, and by which competitors originally, because that could factor into the evolution of the sport itself [along with gloves, bandages, headgear and mouthpieces].

Ray Arcel could have been a valuable resource here, on the chronology of adding Novocain to the boxing trainer's arsenal of tools. [Dempsey may well have embraced Novocain for boxing purposes, as he did headgear for sparring. He was fairly progressive in some elements of his approach to boxing, by the standards of his era.] I would not be surprised if the use of numbing agents for the hands dates back a century or more in boxing.
Simply having small hands certainly does not guarantee fragility. In the case of Ali though, it is a fact we have his testimony and that of Angelo Dundee and Ferdie Pacheco as to this particular difficulty of Muhammad's. [Ali's tremendous hand speed combined with head hunting orientation could certainly complicate matters here. He needed to discriminate his punch selection with some care to protect his hands, so that speed could be at once be a blessing and a curse.]

Henry Armstrong had the tiniest fist of any cast in the display case when I visited Canastota. Hank's power and hand durability were certainly never in question, as his knockout record and activity rate bear out. [The biggest fist belonged to Carnera, but countless other factors like quickness, leverage, placement, temperament, and various biological attributes also factor into knockout proficiency. Physical characteristics like protruding knuckles on the striking surface, and grip strength make up part of the equation.]

It was Ali himself who admitted to Blake and Carson that his lack of hand size is what specifically posed him problems with his fists.

Hand issues made Tunney and Loughran into the master boxers they became. Tommy originally set out to become a power puncher, but his fragile hands quickly forced him in a different direction. Gene only became a dangerous puncher very late in his career, after a spell chopping and sawing wood as a lumberjack specifically to strengthen his hands, but he never had the shoulder structure of a Dempsey to support the generation of optimal power. McLarnin's knockout percentage would have been sky high if his hands could only have held up under the force of the power he generated.

When did you meet Ali..? when he was healthy, do you know your lose height as you age as you lose bone mass and density!

And that would be made all the worse with Ali's health conditions.

Pictures lie JG..just look at the vid of Ali-Foreman facing off during referee's instructions prior to the beginning of the fight....Foreman is looking down at Ali...clearly he's 6'4" or real close to it.

Foreman was an exception to the rule.
He was dehydrated in his prime.

He would never be a cruiser.

Pictures often distort things and can greatly change how things look compared to how they really are. They can make people look short at one moment, then 2 seconds later a different picture makes them look tall because of a position change.
