He had amazing physical gifts. Very good power and speed, solid D, good chin, great left hook and a good combo puncher, his only real weakness was his stamina.

That being said, for as gifted as he was he did not accomplish as much as he should have. Hr fought everybody, had some good wins but ultimately came u short in his biggest fights. He was doing well in the bhop and mayweather fights, but blew it. Its more then just stamina issues. Could he just not focus and keep a gameplan for 12 rounds?? Bad trainers?

Oscar said that he messed up his career after he got extremely famous and wealthy with partying and alcohol, he said it shortened his career greatly. After Oscar got rich and famous he let himself go and destroyed his body.

    He had some stamina issues.

I think he'd have been well-served to pick a trainer early on and stick with him. I don't think all the chopping and changing helped him. I don't think he was well-suited to Floyd Sr at all.

He could have made some gradual improvements instead of trying to overhaul his style, which only needed some tweaking.

He knocked some fighters down with that right hand earlier in his career and made it a factor again later in his career

De La Hoya wasn't terribly loose and relaxed inside the ring. A fair amount of rigidity to his style.

overhand right to complement his left hook.

you take away his left hook like floyd did and he really is a different fighter.

He did not have stamina issues, this is so over dramatized. His first 30 fights, up until Trinidad he was known for closing the show and knocked a few guys out later in the fight. Carr in the 11th, Quartey in the 12th, Vargas in the 11th, closed the show vs. Molina in the 12th https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WRsIpwMbJU
also almost dropped Molina with a right hand
Closed the show vs. Gonzales and whitaker also.

That stamina issue issue is pure bull**** outside of the trinidad fight.

He was confused often. It's why he had so many competitive fights despite being one of the most physically gifted Mexicans of all time if not the most

His defense was anything close to good, it was pretty porous actually.

Oscars flaws made him a Superstar. If he wouldve been a complete fighter like Ward, he would be fighting in high school Gyms in East LA
