For me, there's little doubt that a prime Calzaghe is the more talented, skilled fighter and would be victorious if the two ever met. However, he spent the majority of his career holding the wbo title hostage while defending against the weakest competition possible. In contrast froch has taken tough fight after tough fight, beating the odds and more talented fighters again and again. A real throwback fighter and the type of guy the sport desperately needs. He's chased the best and dared to be great, unlike calzaghe in my opinion. When you compare their resumes: Calzaghe: Eubank Reid (controversial) Woodhall Brewer Mitchell Lacy Bika Kessler Hopkins Jones Froch: Pascal Taylor Dirrell (controversial) Abraham Johnson Bute Kessler With Froch I think it's a case of quality over quantity, and he has built his resume in a much smaller time frame. I still think Calzaghe is ahead though.
:deal Froch achieved more now imho, and isn't done yet. Calzaghe h2h would probably beat the **** out of Froch.
Not controversial at all. Watch the fight and Calzaghe won it in a close fight. People like to re-write history. But I think Calzaghe is the GOAT at SMW and destroys Froch. Froch may have better wins though.
People generally overrate the quality of opposition that Froch has fought. He hasn't ducked anybody and has consistently fought genuine contenders, but people act like he's been fighting and beating elite opposition all this time. Guys like Pascal, Abraham, Mack and an old, faded Johnson aren't anything really worth bragging too much about.
maybe for accuracy and perspective Hopkins - 43 years old and had lost 2 of his last 4 Jones - 40 years old and had lost 3 of his last 6 (2 by KO) yeah lets count these as "legacy wins" :rofl
I think Calzaghe and Froch are about the same level and I'm not a fan of either. My point is, people are elevating otherwise solid wins for Froch as being more than what they actually are.
- You'd have to say it is because he fought the best that was available... - But Calzaghe would've won if they fought - just had more talent, and he was a bad man (I mean a really bad man) in that ring... - Look what happened to Jeff Lacy after their fight - ruined his career
Calzaghe still has a much better resume. do you actually call yourself knowledgeable boxing fans? or is this entire site just full of the worst kind of ****ing simpleton?
