I understand Ward's frustration, but he can't be calling out 5-year retired 40 year olds. He beat every top guy around him, Dawson, Froch, Kessler, Abraham, Bika, as well as other contenders like Miranda and Green. Now he has nothing left in terms of decent pay days other than Froch II or go up to 175 and fight Pascal, Bute, Dawson II. So he has a lot of options, just not at 168. There's other good 175 fighters like Cleverly, Cloud, Grachev, Kovalev, Braehmer, Shumenov, Chilemba, Bellew, that are all interesting match ups to me. Then there's also Chavez Jr, Golovkin, Quillin, if they decide to come up to 168. Ward doesn't have to resort to calling out Calzaghe.

Dumb example, it's more like Broner calling De La Hoya out of retirement. Calzaghe last fought December 2008, not 1997.

Missed that the first time round. Logically sound post. Don't expect the disciples to buy into it though.

Posted this on another thread and got no reply for some reason:

This forum does my ****ing head in sometimes.

Firstly, to all the American posters: Go to the British forum, and tell me of ONE SINGLE British poster who REALLY THINKS Froch would win a rematch. I don't think there's one. Not one who believes Froch won the first fight, and not one who truly believes he will win a second. Hope is different, we all hope he could work a miracle for sure, but no one truly believes he will, or has even intimated it.

Secondly, Ward's Management's statement about Calzaghe is classless and is just starting to make them look stupid.

I don't like Ward personally, for reasons many other people state. That doesn't mean I think Froch beat him, and it doesn't mean I don't think he'd win again. However, he does fight dirty, and he does seem reluctant to travel. All anyone is asking is for him to prove what everyone believes of him, and get that win fighting abroad. And also, he would have more appeal worldwide if he does what guys like Bute, Kessler, Froch and Abraham have done and FIGHT AWAY FROM HOME, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE THE CHAMPIONS. If the Ward-Kessler fight had happened outside the US, he would have been warned or penalised for headbutting, and maybe even have a DQ loss...what with it being cheating and all.

Boxing is business, as much as sport. And for that reason, he DOES have to travel, or he'll lose out. As someone else said 'he's got the sharpest clothes and no party to wear them at'. Nail on head there.

Finally...this 'champion' malarky...where to start? In ANY OTHER SPORT. Ward would no longer be considered champion. If Federer loses to Nadal in a Grand Slam final in Tennis, Nadal is the champion. Nadal then gets injured, and can't defend his title the following year. Guess what? The tournament goes ahead, and Federer is allowed to win and be considered the champion. Why? Because if the Title wasn't up for grabs, what would be the point in the competition? You can also be the champion without being no.1 in the rankings. Nothing wrong with that. However, inactivity also affects your rankings. Ward has no titles, he isn't a champion right now, until he gets back in the ring and fights again. It would be like Manchester United sitting out of the EPL next year and saying no one else can be the champion. It would also be like Man Utd. refusing to travel to Manchester City's stadium to face them, because they're the champion.

These are all bull**** posts, and threads. The reality is, Ward really DOES have to fight to prove himself abroad, where the money is, despite what he thinks, if he wants to avoid negativity towards him for the rest of his career. What's he worried about? EVERYONE thinks he will win.

That phone call will be made, have no fear about that. Froch is a different animal, and that fight is gonna happen if Ward wants it. Let him and Eddie Hearn have a break though first, hey? Dude just had a tough fight in case anyone missed it? You know, he actually fights more than he uses Twitter...

Good post Grandslam i agree that Ward NEEDS this more than Froch if he wants to avoid being remembered in the same way Calzaghe is !

Calzaghe would fail the drugs tests.

He probably has more cocaine running through his veins than a Los Zetas sicario at this moment in time.

I'm sorry ... at what point in my 'brittard' post did I say the Brit fighter would win no matter what happened, or that he was robbed, or that the American fighter was not the more undoubtedly skilled? I must have missed that bit you racist ****.

Also, is comparing one solitary sport to another really that far fetched? I was using the idea of another sport with multiple titles and a separate rankings system to make my point.

I could have made the same point about Rugby: From 1987 to 2011, New Zealand topped the world ranking for most of the year EVERY SINGLE YEAR. And not once between those two years were they every 'World Champions' who held the World Cup. Do you know the sport of Rugby? You even have a national team. There's a comparison to a 'man's' sport which shouldn't illicit quite so much of an indignant response from you...and might make you answer my point as opposed to denigrate my choice of comparison. Go ahead...

Edit: You can clearly tell from my join date and post count that I read the forum a lot but hardly ever post. I only post when I feel there is a big point to make, and usually am content in reading other people's debates. This would argue against my being a 'Brittard' or a 'newbie' or anything like that. I'm one of those rare people that thinks and evaluates carefully before launching into an argument being judgmental because of where they come from, and listens far more than they talk. I also read this forum enough to know that you are a racist biggot.

Nobody gives a **** about your **** sports Brittard. Boxing is a mans game and is decided in the ring. Ward battered Froch with a fractured hand, beat Kessler, Bika, Dawson, Abraham ect. He is the king at 168. This isnt ****ing tennis and rugby. To be the man you have to beat the man. Froch will never beat the man. Deal with it. Stop trying to craft mythic champions and have your country actually work on producing them.
