I thought it was a relatively easy fight to score really and have trouble understanding anything other than 7-5 or 8-4 froch

The fight was very close. Kessler won on all other work than the jab. Not that Froch never landed anything else, but Kessler landed far more power shots etc. Froch generally has two weapons, his jab and his kamikaze combo attack (like the one he got Bute with). Kessler evaded almost all Carl's kamikaze attacks, while he connected frequently on Carl's chin with his own punches. But Carl's jab hit home many times.

So I have it 6-5 with one even for Kessler. But there were about 4-5 very close rounds and in some of those Carl may be a bit more busy but Kessler landing the most telling punches. I gave some of those to Kessler, but know that the even rounds are almost always seen for the home town guy because that is what seems to be happening in the atmosphere.

So I had Kessler winning by one round, but a draw or Froch by a round is understandable.

The fight was competitive but Froch won clearly in my opinion.

Even if you give all the close rounds to Kessler I can't see how you could give him more than 5 rounds. I scored it 116-113, I gave Kessler rounds 4,6,9,11 with the 10th even.

Froch won this. 115-113 on my cards and the 12th round was the icing on the cake.

I had it a very close 7-5 to Froch. A draw is reasonable. But I think you'd have to have given Kessler one or two generous rounds to get a 7-5 for him. Which, to be fair if you did, you still would have had a better scorecard than one of those judges.

Credit to Kessler, though. Despite being nowhere near his best, he was evenly matching Froch for the most part.

That's 1 round difference. And I did score the fight. I gave Kessler 4,6, and 2 out of 3 of 9,10,11.(can't recall exactly which 2).

Froch missed plenty of jabs, but it was still effective in allowing him to control the fight. Kessler simply wasn't able to sustain any type of offense, nor impose any kind of will on this fight, though he did pretty good body work. Don't get me wrong, he didn't fight a bad fight at all. Just not enough to win in my book.

True. But I thought this fight was more clear. To me there was no question Froch was getting the decision, while the 1st fight was an even, back and forth affair on the scorecards, with the outcome very much in question until the final moment of the final round. This fight was more or less Froch pulling away early, and then he and Kessler more or less playing it even from that point until the end. During the fight, Kessler was never in any position to win it, IMO. One of those wins of the close but clear variety.

froch won more clear rounds to me. So as soon as the wider scores were announced i knew froch had it. The best kessler could have hoped for was 7-5. And thats giving him every close round.

I felt froch won 5 rounds clearly, where Kessler won 2 clearl. that leaves 5 rounds up for debate.

Maybe i should watch round 1 agains cos it looked like froch dominated that one.

I re watched and had it 115-114 Froch. Anyone with a wider card than 3 points needs to learn to score a fight properly and not just score based on the crowds/commentators reactions to what they think is happening

I have to say that the way judging works at the moment is ******ed, they need a Joe Cortez style raised xhair.

Yeah, I think people need to rewatch the first. No way was that a domination. I originally put it down as even. Then 30 seconds into the 2nd I scribbled it out and gave it to Froch. So if I'd kept it as it was, I would have had Froch winning only 6-5. And ****, if I'd given that to Kessler -- which would not be unreasonable at all -- I would have had it a draw.

  15. I just can't see how anyone arrives at a Kessler win, it was a good competitive fight but Froch clearly won by 4 rounds, Kessler was good in spurts but didn't put enough good work together.
