Supersix turned to be badly managed from European side.Cause: noone at the time was betting on Ward despite his gold olympic medal.Big mistake from the old continent side. Thus, the prospect Ward had all the big fights in his own country.Kessler traveled with a belt to west coast, Froch as a champion had to travel in other country fourth of five fights.
Probably Goosen knew the potential of Ward. Were invited Taylor and Abraham who were just beginners at 168.With two years of championship, the longest non-interrupted champion of the division was left outside. Also the WBO champion.
Another thing: after 3 years and a half of championship without ANY MANDATORY DEFENSE Ward is upset cause is stripped by a belt.In the meantime, Bute was accused fighting bums despite some were madatories and a lot of good fighters were in the tournament.

i would partly agree with you, but he also kicked everyone's ass, even if he did fight at home so i think that is the major reason.

No mandatory defense? If this is true it is damn right to strip him from his belt.

Ward had only one fight in Oakland against a Super Six original. The others were against fillers - Green and Bika. And regarding him not fighting his mandatories since winning the belt, it's kinda' hard (by hard, I mean not possible) to do that when you're tied to the tournament. And since the tournament he's been plagued with injuries and has had only one fight (Dawson).

No. It was Kalle Sauerland who had the idea for the Super Six tournament. They thought they had a super star with Abraham.

    1. Ward fought ALL HIS BIG FIGHTS NOT TRAVELING OUTSIDE THE CONTINENT, NOT EVEN HIS COUNTRY.PERIOD

3.Exactly, the tournament gave to years of protection AT ONE VERSION.After the tournament.Mr. Ward is champion AT TWO VERSIONS and during one year and a half he STILL FACES NO CHALLENGER FROM NO VERSION.An guess what:

He`s the one upset despite he could fight for p4p ranking in this time.

It seemed like it was set up for Ward to win. Why else did everybody have to travel and fight in front of a hostile crowd except for him?

What is this, basketball or football? Soccer? It should not matter where a fight is being held as there is no advantage to having a fight in front of fans. If someone is kicking your ass in a fight, the fans go silent.

If you don't believe me, you should rewatch Mayweather/Hatton. Half of England came overseas for the fight and were hyped early... and they were all silent as Ricky started getting his face caved in.

What you have in fighters like Froch is an inferior product. Fans are not delusional and it won't take them long to know what they are witnessing.

bull****. This was set up by Europeans, the Americans were big underdogs. Kessler was by far the favorite going into the tournament. Ward proved to be a great fighter capable of beating any style, how I the hell can you hate on that? So you're saying Kessler and Froch aren't professional enough to fight away from home? These guys are all professionals and a lot of that is rising to the occasion and able to perform in front of any crowd. Give Ward credit he cleaned out 168. The only interesting fight for him would have been Calzage, and damn that would have been a good fight..

Ward and Dirrell were green, no one had any idea if either or both of them would be able to rise to the occasion. Ward shined and came out looking like top tier p4p material. Froch came out looking like a tough sob who would give anyone a tough night. Those were the two winners of the tournament..

Nobody had any idea of the winner, it wasn't an easy string of fights. The best man won the tournament, bottom line. Ward is easily the best fighter from 160-175

What I said is Europeans managed badly.Of course it`s far more proffesional to go outside for a fight. But what Ward pretends right now, that he has no obligation in fighting abroad he didn`t do when wasa a challenger, to fight for a belt in the champion`s turf.Of course maybe noone could know the outcome but this is the idea. Ward didn`t clean the 168. He put a shoulder to push Bute in England after he previously announced he`ll fight him after the tourrnament. SURELY HE DIN`T CLEAN THE 168.NOT BY HIMSELF ANYWAY.

    Ward has an underrated resume:

    Froch
    Kessler
    Dawson
