Have you seen Angulo's last few fights? Lara is the worst possible matchup for him there's a good chance it's going to be like Lara-Hearns
Lara will win but I'll need to bust out the compuclich and the elbow/headbutt counter to see how many points he should have been deducted or if he should be DQ'd
I'm thinking it's much more likely we see a replay of his fight against Freddy Hernandez, only wider.
yes i have seen angulos last few fights. and yes i know he has not looked very impressive. however i dont think very highly of lara he never impressed me . i think this fight will be close and it will get sloppy at times. im pickin lara to win decision. but deff wont be no lara/hearns... hearns lives off his fathers name. n never was very good . harry joe yorgey knocked hearns ass out and when angulo fought yorgey i thought yorgey was going to die. lara gonna box his way to a decision i think but wut this fight comes down to is stamina.. it can go a decision or who ever tires out in the last 2 rds is getting knocked out. but like i said im goin wit lara to win the decision. i used to really like angulo but i came to realize hes really not all that especially after kermit schooled his ass.
rooting for angulo but i think lara takes it. hopefully angulo worked on cutting off the ring and conditioning. its his only chance.
Highly doubtful. Lara can very likely outbox Angulo without any need to excessively grapple and pot shot. Just different levels of skill.
bumping this thread when Lara beats the brakes off of Angulo...you break down is **** poor...Angulo doesn't have what it takes to beat lara...Angulo is tough but that's about all that he brings to the table. As usual, ROACH\HENDO\DIAMOND EYE\ CAPSFUND\BITCHASS shows his lack of knowledge of the sport.
Lara should dismantle him. Key word: Should. He's the superior talent. However, it wouldn't be the first time Erislandy fought down to his opponent. I really want to see him put on a showcase against Angulo to set up a big fight with Alvarez, but it's up to Lara to take the chance to make a statement.
People bring up Paul Williams because he's a pressure fighter, but Paul is a southpaw and Lara could pot shot and stifle his attack by staying in the pocket. He could stay in the pocket against Angulo, but it is likely his plan will be to fire off a shot, lead with his head, and then hold. There is a strong possibility this will work; however, Lara has shown mental weakness in his last two fights. He resorted to illegal tactics against no hoppers like Hernandez, and Vanes, who is admittedly skilled and tough. Lara had no business struggling against a guy on Hernandez level and depending on who you ask, was on his way to losing against Vanes. Regardless, I think it's possible that Lara has a better chance against Alvarez due to his low output, although I've underrated Alvarez lately, and would slightly favor Alvarez. Angulo is definitely unskilled compared to Lara in the sense that he has no defense, but he is a good puncher and he puts his punches together. He can also take a beating. A low output, possibly mentally weak fighter, will have a nightmare match up against a guy like Angulo who doesn't stop coming. Like I said, there is a strong possibility Lara wins like Cintron won, by pot shotting and grappling, but I believe this will be the fight where you see Virgil Hunter's expertise come into play. Angulo will not allow Lara to grapple. He will beat him down, and stop him late. It will surprise everyone.
