I'm honestly not trolling here, but I would really like to know from some of the American members why the UK has a reputation for home cooking. Other than the Froch-Dirrell fight (which in my opinion could have gone either way) I can't think of any other results that could be classed as favouring the home fighter. Its certainly not on the same level as fights in Germany or Italy. Examples of fights would be appreciated as I'm genuinely intrigued how this reputation has been gained.
That's the impression that I get, I think generally (despite the odd shocker) results on both side of the pond are broadly fair
Well said. I've decided to refrain from the last few Froch threads for this very reason.I'm all for discussion and debate and i don't mind a bit of banter and **** taking, but it seems there are some members who are determined to turn it into a UK vs US argument.
The US is clearly worse as the UK. In fact it's on or even beyond Germany level. FNF had a robbery on the cards almost every week in the past 2 years so it's not a % thing either. But to be fair, the recent Hall robbery and Parris' score in the McDonnell fight did feed the discussion.
America is just as bad, if not worse than most other countries for this. the only differemce is Rather than the 'home' fighter getting decisions they shouldn't as they do in lots of countries, in America the robberies go in the favour of the promoter's choice/preferred fighter based on how they want to build their career/their future earning potential.
In your example, the guys who got robbed were Americans lol...Cunningham got robbed in his own backyard :rofl atsch
There are bad decisions everywhere, every now and then. Britain is no worse than the US in this regard. America gave us the three worst decisions I've seen in recent years. In chronological order: Lewis-Holfield 1 Oscar-Tito Pac-Bradley
In the UK, they will literally just rob a foreign guy lol. That Dirrell decision and refereeing were a complete disgrace.
Yes that result was controversial but I see worse on a weekly basis. Overseas fighters get a fair crack of the whip in the UK, just look at the Lee Purdy-Carson Jones draw. I had that as a Purdy win (tight) but a win, how is that a robbery?
Purdy was just supposed to be a keep busy fight for Jones so the Brook rematch could be set up. Purdy definitely won that fight, IMO too.
