David Haye was almost outweighed by 100lbs against Valuev but beat him with ease. I understand Valuev is awful and would not have held a belt in a better era, but Imagine for a moment that there were no weight divisions. Which fighters could you see doing something similar and against whom? Note: I am only talking about one world level fighter against another world level fighter, not Sergio Martinez beating Martin Rogan or anything like that. For example, you may believe that let's say Donaire beats Peterson, or Pac beats Glenn Johnson.
Maybe "with ease" was an exaggeration but he won comfortably. I had Valuev winning only 3 rounds IIRC.
I had it 116-112 to Haye. There are times where the 4 scoring rules go out of the window. Honestly trying to even respond gave me a headache. Its a mental question!
Standing next to Haye on Friday i was shocked how small he is. Wadi Camacho looked bigger maybe the clothing . But it struck me even more how much the size difference must of been against Valuev not just height but weight. I thought he won well honestly. Valuev at one point was shadow boxing . Haye did same job as Holyfield sadly Real Deal got robbed and David got the nod.
Holyfield winning that fight is one of the biggest myths in boxing. I challange you to watch that fight without commentary.
I really would find it hard to judge fighters in different divisions but they obviously spar like khan and angulo or degale and cleverly but those are only one division up or down and that at the top level over 12 rounds is more than enough difference Haye fought off the back foot against valuev and I think people forget how passive he was for most of that fight it looked like he would throw a huge chance away Having big differences would mean the likliehood of 1 running 1 stalking so a few who would fly in the face of that concept who are aggressive and big punchers for the weight like Matthysse Rios Donaire Pacquiao Golovkin they could compete at a higher weight or somebody who can use their reach to their advantage rigondeux or miguel vazquez they could move up without getting smashed straight away but the fact is the difference would most times count
No. Haye did not much more than ancient Holyfield. Haye just got the decision. He did not beat Valuev with ease.
I agree with Ginger that it would have to be someone who can punch hard for their weight. Would also be necessary for them to have super stamina and footwork 'cause they would be on the backfoot all night, firing off a quick combination and then getting the **** out of danger. The opponent would have to be a slow, one dimensional plodder. Prime Pacquiao beating Chavez jr maybe?:think
